to ask whether anybody uses a shisha pen?

I quit smoking over 10 years ago. I don't miss the cravings or the smell, etc. But at times I do find myself chewing pens and looking for something to do with my hands when I'm writing or walking. (If I'm not careful, I end up eating, so I often have carrots with me so I have something to gnaw on when I'm concentrating.)

I saw someone smoking a shisha pipe at the pub the other evening, and it made me wonder whether it would be a useful way to get the same effect without the tar and nicotine. (I mean the electronic pens that use non-nicotine fluids)

I don't have any intention of starting to use nicotine or smoke tobacco again, but is there any problem with a plain shisha pen?

No problem what so ever.Except if you do it in private, you look a bit sus and if you do it in public, you look like an idiot.Don't bother. Grin

I'd probably use it mostly when I'm doing invoices & paperwork or if I'm stuck stationary in a traffic jam. Those are the times where I could just chew off my own fingers in frustration, and am most likely to start stuffing down anything I can find to eat. So the idea of blowing vapor rings seems quite calming by comparison.

Maybe I'll just get a cheap disposable & see if it's of any use.

There's loads of threads in the stop smoking topic on here, have a look through - the posters are incredibly knowledgeable.

I did have a look through some of the vaping threads in the stop smoking section. I couldn't really understand some of the terminology. I just bit the bullet and ordered a disposable one from ebay to give it a try. I already look an idiot, so it can't make it much worse...

A friend got one with the fruity / sweet flavour nicotine free liquid to stop eating sweets when bored and she said it worked, she's never smoked but was starting to eat crap when bored.

There's so many people using them now that it's a non event seeing someone with one. Dh has used one for about a year and hasn't had a cigarette since, he's slowly reducing the nicotine.

The starter kits are about £10-£15 depending on battery size and where you get it from. One tip is that the bottom fill atomisers are better than the top fill ones according to dh, plus you can just change the wick instead of the whole cartridge when it burns out, a new top fill atomiser is about £4 from shops but a new wick for the bottom fill ones are about £2.

If you go into one of the shops they'll be able to show you how to use it as you have to clean the top of the battery properly before charging or it will corrode. The ones from eBay and amazon can be quite hit and miss though the liquids are usually fine.
