AIBU?

To think it's time everyone laid off Benedict and Sophie?

The bitchery is awful.

Nobody knows what transpired in that (or any) relationship.

They are married now. Give it a rest.

Ooh what's been said? I seemed to have missed out on all the goss!

DW said today that some of the more rabid fans would take Martin a Freeman not being at thr wedding as confirmation that the relationship is a fake (apparently this is a theory - they're just doing it for the publicity?). Some people are waaaay over invested in this!

They seem to have successfully evaded photographers Bowler. Undoubtedly that is enraging the gossip loons all the more.

Yes Hermione, that seems to spring from an inability to distinguish Holmes and Watson (BFF) from Cumberbatch and Freeman. A problem with telling fact from fiction seens to be a theme.

Spade people are disputing the couples' account of how long they were dating before engagement, lip-reading red carpet footage, 'expertly' interpreting glances in BAFTA footage etc. And coming to the conclusion BC is some kind of sacrificial lamb in a 1950s 'had to get married' 'man of honour' scenario. All quite mad.

I can't imagine how suffocating it must feel to have people just inventing this stuff about you. I do hope she is genuinely indifferent Sad

I also have been reading schlocky gossip websites whilst I could not sleep!

I have no great feelings either way, but I do think that he has been an awful hypocrite regarding privacy. And if he has sold his wedding pics to Vogue, I shall think that even more so.

And he did a stupid voice in The Imitation Game. And wasn't that good.

Lip reading??? Oh, who supposedly said what, to whom?

Where are you reading this? Confused

I've been reading Tumblr gossip as well Blush

It's incredible how people have been analysing dates and sightings of them last summer. But the conclusion seems to be that they were casually dating, she fell pregnant accidentally, and BC decided to marry her to keep his image intact for the Oscars campaign.

It's all very plausible, but I really couldn't care less either way. I do love a bit of celeb gossip and muck raking though!

I can't repeat it Zebra, I feel besmirched just from reading it.

Comments under mainstream articles also shameful. My only excuse is that I know that church and was looking for photos.

Oh, fgs Arsenic, besmirched?

SouthEast in my insomniacal moments, I like Celebitchy for gossip. Also Laineygossip . I've learnt all about shipping, stans and nannies.

AGC Blind Items is the very best worst for scandalous allegations.

AGC Blind Items you say? Noted. Ta.
I also like foxella which is a succinct round up, and CDAN which seems more made up.

I have a friend who is related to Martin Freeman. He is very private in real life and unlikely to want to feature in any celeb wedding photos. He also has an incredibly busy schedule and may just not have been available to attend. It doesn't necessarily mean anything about his relationship with Benedict at all.

Also Benedict's parents are both actors and although not as successful as him, they have had good careers. His Mum certainly attracted the attention of the tabloid press as she was a stunner when she was younger (and indeed well into middle age). Benedict will have a fair idea of how all this plays out, although his fans seem determined to take it to new levels.

I find it very odd how invested so many adult women who really should have better things to do, seem to be in Benedict Cumberbatch. Or indeed any celebrity man.

He's met a woman and has married her, that's very nice for them. Surely that is all there is to say about it.

Yanbu op.

K saw a bit of a film last night with Iran Gryffud. Whatever happened to him? He was the next big thing, front page news etc, then he disappeared. What went wrong?

TheSpottedZebra · 15/02/2015 13:30

Who is k? I saw the film.
And it was Ioan, not Iran. Blush

Family life Zebra and presumably some peace from the paps.

Let's hope the Cumberbatches get the same.

I don't think Ioan's career panned out as he anticipated. But who'd have thought Benny would have gone so stratospheric? You just can't predict.

I thought Martin Freeman was the best man according to the articles I've read?

Isn't MF a bit of a knob in RL, according to celebrity rumours? Therefore prob a good thing he wasn't the Best Man, and therefore the closest to BC, if true.

Lip reading? Some people have way too much time on their hands.

Also, what the hell is the logic of someone who gets lots of publicity doing something 'for the publicity' ? Confused

I'm a big fan of him and I think she is beautiful and quite understated.

Good for them for doing things as they want to and not bowing down to public pressure to have a big showy public do filled to the rafters with celeb guests.
