to be disturbed by 80s movies

I love da 80's but watched 16 candles. There is an extremely disturbing date rape scene which makes me VERY uncomfortable. Something along the lines of 'she's out of it, you can do what you want to her'. Shocking

Even "family" films of the 80s are a bit weird in retrospect. Pretty Woman? Nice premise.

Not sure anyone ever called that a family film before Grin Horrible, horrible film.

I must be odd because I like Dirty Dancing much more now than I did as a teenager. Hard to imagine anyone making anything like that in Hollywood now: bookish, leftwing teenager gets to have fun shagging hot (if you like that sort of thing) older guy then clears off at the end of the summer to enjoy the rest of her life without him, pausing only to pay for someone's abortion. There's no way that would get approved now.

Crybaby - now there is a great parody of the 50's. Grease I'm not feeling so much.

I remember feeling really bad watching Dirty Dancing at a school friends house when I was 10/11 as I would have never been allowed to watch it at home. I loved that film!

Plus The Princess Bride is awesome! Just some dodgy films I reckon, just like now.

All these 80's films that I grew up with and LOVED- since the Corey Haim/Corey Feldman disclosure about sexual abuse by men in the film industry in Hollywood. Since then any film ive watched has left me feeling a bit shit- wondering what was going on behind the scenes

Robocop was on the other day. The scene where Murphy is killed. Wtf.

Don't forget that the original Robocop was an 18 certificate. The modern remake was a 12A I think. 18 certificate films are rare these days so they do seem quite shocking by comparison.
