aibu to think this is a bit shit?

Started a new job at the start of the year. In my previous job, I deliberately worked double my required notice so that I didn't leave them in the lurch over the Xmas season.

Just found out that to reward the good results the unit got over the Xmas season, all the staff have receiveved a bonus. And I've not been included.

aibu to think this is a bit shit? I left myself only 4 days between New job and old job, to help them out, and I've not been included in the bonus for the period of time where I was still a full time member of staff.

It's just a long line of reasons why I left the company, but it feels like the final straw. No. I don't work for them they can't fob me off with telling me it's all experience, or incentive to progress, when they give me extra responsibilities for fuck all extra pay.

would I be unreasonable to chase up why I haven't been included or should I just add it to the reasons I left and forget about it? It's really pissed me off.

I know this probably sounds mental, but what's making it worse is how much my new company do appreciate me.

Because I was co stantky being underappreciated and taken advantage of, I started thinking that maybe I just wasn't as good as I thought, and that I was overestimating my abilities, and how they were treating me was reflecting my actual capability.

But I've only been i. My new job since January, and have already been getting g amazing feedback, praise and responsibility. I'm so happy with this and love my new job, but can't help but dwell on the fact that it I was right about being treated unfairly in my old job. For some reason they decided to ignore my hard work and it just seems so unfair.

My dp is telling me that I need to move on, and that I hav a tendancy of not being able to switch off from work. I know I'm taking this far more personally than I should be, and I doubt anyone else is giving it a fraction of the thought that I am.

Anyone have any tips on how to get over it?

The bad experience from your old job has contributed to how well your are doing in this one. Focus on getting a great bonus next year in your new firm.

Every time you have to deal with your old boss smile a happy smile that he isn't in charge of you anymore.

Ps if your new company audits your old one would it have been appropriate to either go on a night out or receive a cash bonus anyway??

I hadn't actually thought about wwhether it eod have been appropriate or not. I suppose it would look a bit dodgy and if anyone were to query it could look like a bribe. If I were to work on that site I would be independently creating a result for them. So I would actually need to be really careful.

I've decided to take a step back from it all, I'm still in touch with a lot of my old workmates which I'm going to avoid for a while, and I'm going to avoid going to the site at all socially. Distance myself from it all

Learn to switch off. As for your bonus I'd just let it drop and thank yourself for getting out when you did and finding a great new job.

At my last workplace I started in late September and had to watch all the other staff get their Christmas bonus - gutted! The clause was you had to work the 12 months previous and in that branch only.
