The only time I've ever seen it is on here, I've assumed it was a colloquial term. Confused

AnyFucker · 09/02/2015 21:21

I only ever heard it on here.

I don't really like it, because it feels to me like it comes from a violent act

Like somebody's head being "wobbled" by a punch to it or something.

No, you give your own head a wobble. A shake. Not a punch!

AnyFucker · 09/02/2015 21:32

Just me then ? Smile

I Think it does come across as mildly threatening
especially from the piece of shit who said it to my dad
It's a bit like the people who say "you don't want to mess with me" or "he realised his mistake when he messed with me"

It's just another way of saying get a grip. Wobble is a glorious word.

AnyFucker · 09/02/2015 21:35

I stand corrected but I still don't liiiiike it Grin

ValentinesDay · 09/02/2015 21:35

It's been around for years. I like it. Some people do indeed need to give their big heads a wobble.

AnyFucker · 09/02/2015 21:36

not just me then, spb ? < brightens >

WorraLiberty · 09/02/2015 21:38

It just means have a word with yourself.

pepperpigmustdie · 09/02/2015 21:47

I envisage a cartoon shake/wobble of the head, not a 'I'm going to throttle' you.

Wobble is a good word - so is 'moist' is better Grin

aphrodites · 09/02/2015 21:52

My old Chemistry teacher used to always tell she'd like to pick me up and shake me which is similar I guess. I've never heard of giving your head a shake though, I might try it out on DH!

INickedAName · 09/02/2015 23:27

Heard it loads. My gran used to say it.

I'm north east and have only ever heard it used in a friendly banter light teasing kind of way though.

Friend "let's go to McDonald's"
Me" give yer head a wobble, greggs is where it's at"

Or

Me "walking dead is back, walking dead is back, walking dead, walking dead, wohoooo, walking dead, walking dead.
Whole family "give your head a wobble"

molyholy · 09/02/2015 23:35

It reminds me of an old Frank Butcher saying 'av a word wiv yourself'

Tobyjugg · 09/02/2015 23:54

I heard "give your head a shake" back in the 60s.

CaptainHolt · 10/02/2015 00:03

My Dad used to say it. I'm from the NE
