To think you don't need to buy a second trampoline

I know it's none of my business, but..

My friend has two kids and one trampoline. Both kids enjoy bouncing on the trampoline, but for health and safety reasons they cannot go on at the same time, so will occasionally argue and fight over whose turn it is. My friend has just told me that she is buying a second trampoline, so they can have one each.

I think this will prevent the kids from learning to take turns and to share. AIBU?

dimes??

devices.

typo central today Blush

ErnesttheBavarian · 09/02/2015 11:32

Who gets the new trampoline? Will there be arguments about that? Maybe she should sell the old one and buy two new ones?

Carriemac · 09/02/2015 11:36

I agree with you OP. We have one tv, though could afford another and expect children to negotiate and discuss what to watch, and occasionally not get their own way. Same with 'sharing' toys. Bikes are obviously different.

Purplepumpkins · 09/02/2015 13:28

I see your point but a) her life and b) at least it isn't two iPads!

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 09/02/2015 13:33

What waily said

My kids would LOVE two trampolines. It would be a disaster. Imagine the carnage...

flipchart · 09/02/2015 17:05

purplepumkins. And what would be wrong with 2 iPads?

2 kids, 2 adults in this house and four iPads.

Nanny0gg · 09/02/2015 17:29

I see where you're coming from OP. It's ridiculous over-consumption ( and the bike comparison is nonsense)

But I hate the damn things anyway. They're not toys.

ilovechristmas1 · 09/02/2015 18:36

do people implement the 1 only rule

seems a bit ott to buy 2

their money their choice though

TiggyD · 09/02/2015 19:26

The second trampoline should be positioned 6 foot above the first trampoline and facing down. They'll get up to a hell of a speed!

MrMcGintysGoat · 09/02/2015 19:45

4 of us in the house
3 IPads
3 cars
4 TVs
4 sofas
4 bikes
2 Kindles
3 Pcs
I haven't got a clue how many shoes Grin
Who cares?
If I wanted 2 trampolines, then I would get them, and certainly wouldn't give a toss about what other people thought.
BTW my Nephew had a really nasty fractured leg from being on a trampoline with someone else.
I think it would be fun having 2 side by side, forget learning to share. I say bring out their competitiveness, who can jump the highest etc.

Wind yer neck in!

flipchart · 09/02/2015 20:11

mrMginty. I can top trip your bikes.
4 of us 9 bikes. All regularly used!

OP- shoot me now!

MrMcGintysGoat · 09/02/2015 20:21

Ohhhh Flip, you renegade.
How dare you have 9 bikes.
It's just not cricket!

flipchart · 09/02/2015 22:34

Lol mrMcGinty. Obviously I meant top trump you! Hey! Every bike is used. As I speak DS2 is trying to tap me up for another!! He's. got an eyes an enduro.

TwitterWooooo · 09/02/2015 22:38

What a good idea!

LaLyra · 10/02/2015 02:34

We have two trampolines. Wasn't intentional, OH and I both saw them in the same sale and bought one without realising the other had. Shop was closing so couldn't return.

Put them up with the intention of getting rid of one after a family gathering (15 or so kids - turns each much easier with 2!) and kept them after it worked brilliantly.

We've had them about 5 years and the girls (now 12) still use them at least 3 times a week unless the weather is really grim. Younger Ds is big enough to use them now as well. In the summer they were on them constantly.

LaurieMarlow · 10/02/2015 02:41

Maybe they want to practice synchro trampolining.

I'm another trampolining coach who hates the home versions. They're So bloody dangerous.

LaLyra · 10/02/2015 02:50

Marli & Laurie are they dangerous because they are dangerous or are they dangerous because they are not used properly? (Genuine question?)

ChippingInGluggingOn · 10/02/2015 03:30

4 of us. Large rectangle trampoline. No mats, no nets. Always on together, with other friends, ball games, trying to dead leg & bounce each other higher/off. In all those years, one accident, a drunk friend of my parents. Grin

CheerfulYank · 10/02/2015 03:36

I can't imagine getting two but I can't imagine actually enforcing the one at a time rule either.
