To ask if I should call in sick tomorrow (TMI)

I threw up about four times this morning- I felt nauseous and tried to be sick but didn't, then I had some water and threw up everywhere. I also had some diarrhoea. But I feel so much better now- I ate some crackers which helped a lot. But as I've technically had D&V, should I go to work tomorrow? I'm worried if I phone and say 'oh I'm feeling fine but think I should wait' I'll get laughed at by our office manager...

I'd ring them up and give the facts - you've been ill with d&v but you feel fine now and would they prefer you to come in or stay at home.

Good hygiene isn't a guarantee you won't pass it on. If any of my dcs come down with d&v I obsessively clean surfaces and my hands but still usually get it too.

Dh and I have had d&v together so it's likely the same strain of virus, one of us has been sick a few times and the other has barely been able to go from bed to the bathroom. The same virus can affect two otherwise fit and healthy people differently.

I'd be inclined to observe the 48 hour rule but appreciate it isn't always possible. Ring your manager and tell them you've had d&v and ask if they want you to go in.

Turns out everyone at work was ill yesterday too- I rang and was asked to come in! At least we've all had it together to be honest...

I hope you don't work at the uni i attend. Sick phobic and pregnant so could do without a bug!

Goodness, not your fault but hope you all stuck together and didn't see no one else, or use public transport.
