How do you dispose of tumble dryer fluff?

DH throws it in the bin.

Me?, I'm a lazy cow so I swipe the filter (love, love, love doing that!) and throw deposit i garden for little birds to make nests with.

I convince myself I'm being "green" whilst worrying that synthetic fibres might kill baby birds and animals Shock

Compost heap...or bin depending on how cold it is outside

FelixFelix · 07/02/2015 23:31

It's really good to use as kindling for a fire.

Macsmurray · 07/02/2015 23:32

Chuck it on the log burner. Nice raging flames for milliseconds.

I also throw it out for the birdies and I've seen them make off with it so I'm fairly sure they use it.

Salmotrutta · 07/02/2015 23:34

But surely synthetic fibres on a compost heap are very bad form?

Shock

Unless you don't own any synthetic items Squiggly? - then you may be forgiven.

I love cleaning it out too Confused WTF's that all about?

I chuck it in the bin, birds aren't making nests this time of year surely?

Salmotrutta · 07/02/2015 23:42

Erm, yes, birds do sometimes start nesting now- it's a day length thing.

Nesting behaviour starts coming in with longer days.

Mostly the bin - it's nearer and a lot less cold than taking it out in the garden.
When any of dcs are about to light a fire though, they love it as a fire lighting aid when the wood isn't too dry.

Salmotrutta · 07/02/2015 23:44

I think that when you swipe the filter, and it all comes off in one big clump, it's very satisfying!

cozietoesie · 07/02/2015 23:46

In the bin - although it's mostly cat hair which is biodegradable.

And yes - the birds are already strutting their stuff. I've had a conventicle of magpies outside partying all day. Flipping racket.

Salmotrutta · 07/02/2015 23:48

Magpies are little shites.

Big ones, here.

AgentZigzag · 07/02/2015 23:53

'birds do sometimes start nesting now'

Blimey, already??

Mind you, in my head it's only a few days after Christmas...1997 Grin

Salmotrutta · 07/02/2015 23:55

We have snowdrops.

That means it is Spring (fact).

And Spring means nests.

Chuck it up the top of the garden, the squirrels usually nab it though I have seen birds take it too
