I can't believe this is still a month away but already the BBC is full of it. Most of these are freelancers and I suspect a large amount do what they can to, legally, minimise their tax bill while asking PAYE people to donate.

Financially questionable?

Oh yes, cos, like any other organisation they invest in other organisations, some of which might have links with yet other companies who may have products it isn't PC to like: petrochemicals, weaponry, sprouts, etc.

Ah well. There, for our high principals, go thousands of schools, wells, jobs and opportunities. How good and how proud we can be of our high moral stance!

Stop complaining and do one good thing in your life by donating what you can afford. I'm sure all the celebs dig deep. The work they do is amazing, I'm very happy to support.

Is it possible to avoid if your children are at school? I explained to DP the other day that once DS is at school we are going to have to get involved in lots of charities and sponsorships and he was Angry. I suspect that is what pisses a lot of people off, it's relentless begging from the TV, social media, schools etc which is not solved by watching ITV!

I haven't.

it is nothing to do with being 'PC'. That would be a very silly attitude.

it is due to their enormous overheads and waste. There are far more efficient ways of raising money for charity. Such as just giving (not Justgiving.com) without plastic wristbands, silly outfits, promotional tat etc etc.

boring, but gets far more money where it is needed.

they should be forced to take a great big bath of tinned tomatoes. Or table salt...

it is due to their enormous overheads and waste.

Not sure you have read their bumf properly:

One of the fundamental principles behind working at Comic Relief is the "Golden Pound Principle" where every single donated pound (£) is spent on charitable projects. All operating costs, such as staff salaries, are covered by corporate sponsors, or interest earned on money waiting to be distributed.
Taken from Wikipedia, full details here www.comicrelief.com/about-us/how-we-operate/our-finances

So no monies raised from the public go to pay the overheads etc. Corporate sponsors (like the BBC) get something back for their input, it must be equitable or it wouldn't carry on! And having looked at the current crop of jobs, they don't pay staff a huge amount, their board is mainly 'honorary'.

What overheads and wastage were you thinking of?
