To ask if it is possible to be SICK through tiredness?

I am so exhausted. Didn't get DD off until gone midnight then she woke at 3, 5 and 7. I got up at 7; have tried to sleep today but can't.

How can I train myself to sleep in the day? And how am I going to get through this evening without dozing off?!?

Have you tried not 'trying' to sleep? Put something on the radio (talking always works for me - Radio 4 is perfect as nobody gets too agitated usually!) and just sitting?

LittleMissRayofHope · 06/02/2015 16:46

YY to just letting it happen.
I used to put radio on or something I've seen loads of times before and lay on sofa. Next thing I know I'm waking to the sound of a baby crying!

How old is dd? My youngest is 5 months and (when the older doc isn't here) if I put him in his bouncer or play gym I can 'doze' for 15 mins sometimes. Like a power nap. Sees me through til bedtime

When I'm really tired my stomach hurts and I feel sick.
I can quite easily fall asleep when I'm trying to watch something on TV and laying down under a blanket - whether I want to or not.

Thanks. I keep thinking that I can hear her crying. She is nearly 10 months!

YY -I always feel nauseous if I am really tired.

Have you thought of downloading a relaxation or meditation app. I find I always drop off if I listen to one of these.

Yes I feel sick when I'm exhausted. Until having dc I was never sick but since sleepless nights, working and general parenting it's not uncommon.

I also can't nap when I'm exhausted. I have to wait till I basically collapse.

Why get through the evening? When mine were small if they kept me up all night the next night when to sleep about 30secs after they did.

Meditation CDs work for me - yes I haven't caught up with modern technology yet!

I work early hours, come home as DH leaves for work, drop DS off at school and then it's just me and young DD for the day. Although I go to bed early sometimes need to sleep during the day so when DD naps, I get a blanket and put something on the TV on a low volume- sometimes it works for me sometimes it doesn't, but at least I've rested.

Yes, you absolutely can get sick from lack of sleep. Depending on how tired I am, it can manifest as a cold, stomach problems or teeth getting achey and a little loose Confused

I fully agree with past posters, put on the radio or a podcast, something chatty and easy, sit or lie somewhere comfortable with a cosy blanket and just close your eyes. Even if you don't sleep, you will get much needed rest.

I'm supposed to be going out with DH

I get nausea when tired too. I find lying in bed I can usually nod off.
