Kate Middleton- copying her clothes, srsly who does that?

Disclaimer: Canadian here, but lived in UK for several years a while ago.

So flipping through tabloids, or net-surfing, I come across these articles absolutely raving over Kate Middleton's style. Apparently whoever makes whatever she wears immediately becomes inundated with orders, their websites crash, their shops are mobbed etc.

Seriously? Who does that? irl I have never met one woman who actually says- oh wow, I need to have that pink coat or spotted blue dress or whatever she's wearing and rush out and buy it. And I know some women who are really heavy shoppers. I really don't get the appeal of her style, and I don't understand why anyone would copy it. I mean, Kate Moss a few years ago, yes. Nowadays I am watching the Good Wife on netflix, and oh my god Diane Lockhart's outfits, yes, yes. Kate Middleton? Do you actually know any women who rush out and mob the shops for the same dress she's been snapped wearing?

I have to say I've had a couple of lucky escapes when I've almost bought something that she has then worn. There would be nothing worse than everyone thinking you had bought it after seeing her in it.

If he had a caution and a non enhanced cry the caution goes after so many years.

80s clothes look very dated because they're so recent.

I remember thinking everything 70s was too hideous for words in the 80s and 90s, but now enough time has elapsed, and it's retro cool again.

The 50s is long enough ago to have aesthetic appeal. The 80s; not at all.

Everyone eschewed 50s clothes for a long time. Look at how different 60s and 70s fashions were to confirm this.

Kate's clothes will look dated and 'of the moment' in another 10-20 years, we just can't see it right now.

I don't know, if you look at the stuff Diana was wearing in the early to mid nineties (the Chanel suits, the bright blue evening gown and the FU Charles dress) I don't think its dated too badly. It's just her eighties clothes that have.

Interestingly, Princess Anne has worn the same clothes for 30 years!

I have loads of clothes the same- whatever I buy she seems to buy too- I am sure that she stalks my UPS delivery man ! I have never copied anything of hers as I think she is frumpy for her age and size. She often wears a season out (so something I bought a year ago will turn up on her)

I stopped buying LK Bennett shoes as the quality dropped too much when they became mass market. I used to have about 50 pairs with no issues- the last 5 have all split.

I am late 40s and a totally different body shape (But I am about teh same height)

I think Kate plays it safe most of the time because she has to! I couldn't afford her clothes so i wouldnt even bother to google them, plus they wouldn't do my size anyway..i think she always looks well groomed ( i know she has stylists, but you cant buy class!)
I do believe that ma Middleton had a plan from the get go for her gals. Good for her, they could afford the private route. She probably spent hours pouring over mags like the lady making sure Katherine was in the same vicinity as Wills! It all paid off, just Pippa to marry off now..

Surely it is more a case of people see her wearing something in a photo and notice it's a nice dress so they go and buy it - the dress gets more exposure because she is wearing it. Like free advertising. Not people wanting to copy her.

Ds used to wear the same sort of clothes George wears, there is nothing unusual about them (except for the price obviously). I've got loads of pics of him in stripy short dungarees, cardigans, little navy shoes etc. I keep saying "Ds used to have that" so maybe George is copying us Grin.

I did like the little pullover with soldiers on though and I've got the knitting pattern.

Occasionally I'll like something Kate wears but mostly she is a bit boring. Her hair is lovely but costs a fortune to maintain what with all the colouring and everything. I'm sure lots of us could have hair like that if we had an army of top people to look after it!
