To think the ladybirds are taking the piss?

I have ladybirds 'hibernating' in my house. I feel I have been very accommodating, but now they are taking the piss!

They are:

  • Trying to get into bed with me
  • Trying to get into bed with DD (cue screams as we all know how terrifying a ladybird is Hmm)
  • Dive-bombing me in the shower
  • Hiding in the loo roll almost wiped my arse on a ladybird

And generally taking the royal piss!

AIBU to threaten them with eviction?

Ladybirds are not nice - they pretend to be cute and colourful but they are actually nasty bite'y things - a bit like dolphins really. They pretend to be nice but they can be aggressive buggers.

At least you know where you are at with a mosquito or a shark.

Dolphins stop smiling as soon as you turn your back. They are totally into world domination. Get a wing mirror when you go scuba diving and you will see.

Would dressing up like a really big sparrow work? Assuming sparrows like lady birds of course.

We have some but they've been here so long I'm quite attached. The house is being knocked down at the end of the year so I'm letting them enjoy one last bathroom holiday.

Urgh. We have a gang hanging out in our bathroom window (the crevice where we leave the window open a crack). Often find them skating in the sink. Horrid things- never liked them since one pooed on me when I was little...then recently one bit me (they bite. True fact)

I'm so glad to read this thread.
We have had this problem for a few years now in my ds room.
But, they live in the top of the frame. How can I put bleach at the top without ruining my clothes.

ChocolateCherry · 07/02/2015 09:05

We had them a couple of months ago moving into the bathroom. havent seen them again since I sprayed them and the window frame. Sorry LB's but you're not going to be setting up residence in my (new) bathroom.

Anyone old enough to remember the ladybird invasion in 1976 (or was it 75?) Urrrgh! I remember the grass in our garden was heaving with them. And they were big too.

DD had built a ladybird Alcatraz Grin

Got a strange look from someone when I told them what she had spent the day doing Grin

I forgot to say I am in Manchester, so it's not just a Midlands thing Smile

I sprayed Flash with bleach all round the window frame on Thursday night, and topped it off with a bit of neat bleach just for good measure. The walls of my bathroom are all tiled, so mopped the walls with hot water and Flash as well. Have only seen one ladybird since, on Sunday night. I'll clean it all again this week and hopefully they won't come back! Grin

Just a quick update here

All the bleach spraying and wiping was in vain. We have been invaded again and what with the warm weather I am sure they are hatching as quickly as I can vacuum them up. They are now both inside and outside of the house on all floors on a south and west facing wall. Enjoying the sun no doubt.

My skin is crawling thinking of this! Ours were living in the curtain tracks! Have bleached and repainted all around so waiting to see what happens this year. …

MummaV · 06/04/2015 18:17

We have an infestation in our bedroom and landing and they are driving me insane! The bastards bite! I have bites all over my feet and ankles at the moment thanks to the fuckers and I can't bend to scratch the itchy bits being 9 months pregnant!
I've bleached, ant powdered, left the Windows open, kept the Windows closed, nothing gets rid of them!!!

Evil little spotty freaks! Angry
