hi im 28-29 weeks pregnant. i have lost track due 29th april. i want to start maternity leave on the 13th of april. although my last working day would be the start of the easter holidays. as i only work term time.

The main issue is my employer said from 11 weeks of my due date. they can say i (have) to take maternity leave. i did not think i (had) to. I said to employer i thought that was the earliest time, i could take it if i choose to. but i don't have to. she said that's only if they don't, have to make changes for me. and they have already had to make changes. im quite sure that they have to make reasonable changes so that im able to stay? do i have that right?

also what if i don't agree with the changes. one is really stupid. im not allowed to pick up a plastic chair.

oh and slight rant. im not allowed to pick up a plastic chair. but yet its ok for me to walk 4 miles to work tomorrow when there is a bus stike. no trains go near. but yet im not allowed to pick up a plastic chair ffs... thats last bit just a moan haha :)

They have to do appropriate risk assessments. I assume as you work if I remember rightly in a school kitchen they'll do those by the book.
I don't think it's relevant to your risk assessment how you choose to get to work during a bus stroke though.

I'm pretty sure they are wrong.

As far as I know, they can only force you to start maternity leave when you are over 36 weeks pregnant, and that is only if you are off sick for pregnancy related reasons, and possibly if you are unable to perform the role adequately due to pregnancy (although I'm not sure about that one).

You can choose to start maternity leave from 29 weeks, but they can't force you to.

are you a member of a union?

Your employer is wrong.
If they can't make the adjustments you need, and can't offer you safe work then they need to send you home on full pay.
They can make you start maternity leave early if you are sick in the 4 weeks before your due date.
It would be reasonable for you to ask have a day off as leave at short notice if there is a bus strike and your journey is difficult!

They are mistaking 29 weeks with 36 weeks.

Timeline:
25th week - you must have informed them you are pregnant.
29th week - you can take maternity leave if you want to.
36th week - birth: maternity leave automatically starts if you take any sick leave for pregnancy related reasons.
