To use staff car park?

1st world problem here, sorry if it's somewhat trivial compared to most threads Blush I am genuinely grappling with my conscience!

I work admin in a hospital and pay £40pm for the use of the staff car park. I'm on annual leave this week but I'm going up to the hospital to visit a friend today who is an inpatient. I was going to use the staff car park but is that taking the piss?? Should I just do as all other visitors do and stump up £4 to park?

No, you've paid for parking so you can use it.

Park in the staff car park.

Jinglebells99 · 04/02/2015 12:59

No park in the staff car park. You have already paid to park there :)

hedwig2001 · 04/02/2015 13:00

I am in the same position as you. I would park in the staff car park.

Twitterqueen · 04/02/2015 13:00

staff car park! you pay for it!

£4 for visitors? really?! that's terrible

NorwaySpruce · 04/02/2015 13:01

Use your pass! You have qualified, and paid for, the right to park there.

You'd be daft not to use it (assuming you can get a space at this time of day).

I have an annual season ticket for the railway, paid for with a loan from work - I use it all the time at weekends and when I'm not working. It's the same thing.

I also work in a hospital and on the rare occasions I go to the hospital when I'm not working I use my staff permit Smile

HouseBaelish · 04/02/2015 13:08

Absolutely use it - you've paid for it. I presume you don't pay less because you're on leave therefore you're entitled to use the car park you've paid for

lunar1 · 04/02/2015 13:12

Park in the staff one. In my hospital the fine you for parking in visitors carpark if you have paid for a staff permit. Even if you pay! Don't think they like the staff very much.

OnceUponATimeAgain · 04/02/2015 13:15

you've paid - use it

ExitPursuedByABear · 04/02/2015 13:16

Use it. And free up a space for a visitor. Smile

Only1scoop · 04/02/2015 13:18

I work at an airport and don't even have to pay for a car park pass.

Do I pay to park on the extortionate when I go away on holiday for a few days....

Let me think

wowfudge · 04/02/2015 13:22

Use it unless the car park rules state you can only park there when you are working.

DoJo · 04/02/2015 13:27

You're still staff, even when you're on holiday!

LittleBairn · 04/02/2015 13:30

It depends if there is always plenty of space in the staff car park then I would park but if its difficult to find a space I would be considerate to the staff currently on duty and park in visitors.

JollyFrog · 04/02/2015 13:50

I also work in a hospital and pay a monthly fee for carpark. My dad has regular appts at the hospital and I always use my permit when I take him. Perks of the job!

bananapickle84 · 04/02/2015 13:53

I always use my staff permit when parking in the hospital, even when on mat leave. As others have said it is one of the perks!
