Why should just Scotland get better pensions? Why not all of us?

He can't promise feck all, why this useless excuse for an MP gets so much air time is beyond me.

The Labour Party northern branch will say absolutely anything, shameless bunch of liars.

OOAOML · 02/02/2015 20:09

I will vote for my current MP, who has been good on constituency issues. And happens to be Labour. Haven't seen SNP candidate announcement but looks likely to be an ex councillor who was shit on local issues.

And re ideological differences - did Wings not get really pissed off recently when they carried out a social attitudes survey north and south of the border and it showed opinions being pretty similar?

Toadinthehole · 03/02/2015 01:40

There isn't any reason why this should cause resentment south of the border. If the pension increase is funded by extra tax raised in Scotland, there is no fiscal effect on the rest of the UK.

As for whoppers, I wouldn't single Labour out for blame. Raising pensions is one thing. Promising the moon on the basis of an unusually high oil price is in a league of its own.

RandomNPC · 03/02/2015 01:49

Because he's a MP for a Scottish constituency? He's not PM any more.

The Labour Party, as a political organisation, can pick who they like to announce manifesto commitments. And if they get a majority at Westminster, nothing could stop them delivering it.
