To think my husband is a lazy arse

My husband has an issue with the curtains in the lounge being left open at night. He says he feels like he is living in a gold fish bowl. I don't feel too worried about it, on the basis we live in the middle of no where and are not overlooked!

We are sat watching James Bond and he has asked me about half a dozen times to close the curtains. In the end, in a huge huff, he got up and closed the curtains saying I was lazy as I hadn't done it.

Was I unreasonable to shout "You lazy pig, you have asked me over and over to do something that is only important to you and that you could do just the same as me. We are both watching TV".

He is in a mood as he thinks I was lazy. Surely it is him who has been lazy.

If he wanted the curtains closed, he should have got up and done it. He as a lazy arse, you were not.

HTH.

Yanbu.

I does irritate me if I walk into the room and find DH and the DC (and maybe also my parents & sister if they are visiting!) sat watching TV with the curtains open and none of them have been arsed to shut them when it got dark but, if we are all in there, it doesn't matter who gets up to do it so the person who notices it first does it. Usually me!

I'd not ask someone else to do it if I was sat there.

He could perhaps argue that both of you were being as lazy as each other but he should still have shut them himself or ignored them if he couldn't be arsed to get up!

In our house the decider is who has a cat sitting on them and if we both do then I get the short straw as the cat who only sits on him is quite nervous. I'm pregnant now so tend to win by default -unless nervous cat is particularly needy!

LadyLuck10 · 01/02/2015 19:40

You are as bad as each other. Him being lazy and you being Confused speaking that way.

Janethegirl · 01/02/2015 21:22

Does it really matter if the curtains are closed or not? I couldn't give a fuck!
If it bothers you, close them!!

CocktailQueen · 01/02/2015 21:27

Yanbu. If he noticed the curtains then he should have closed them.

My dh does this - says, oh, we must do xxx, meaning I must do it! When I say, fine, you can do tht, he gets shirty.

Your dh is v u.

Silverdaisy · 01/02/2015 22:04

Depends really on the circumstances. Were you sitting beside the window, in arms reach of the curtains?

arethereanyleftatall · 01/02/2015 22:43

Lol, yanbu

mrsfuzzy · 01/02/2015 22:49

so what do you two really argue about besides curtains ? it's just that dh and me are long over due for a row, and i need ideas.

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 01/02/2015 22:51

" In the end, in a huge huff, he got up and closed the curtains saying I was lazy as I hadn't done it."

At this point, you make this face => Hmm

and say 'Am I your bitch?'

And whether or not you need to LTB depends on his answer to that.

HTH.

Tell him to pull himself together. Snort!

DealForTheKids · 01/02/2015 22:55

My dad does this, but he is in a wheelchair (and we all still moan about having to pander to his preferences when none of us care particularly and no one can see in).

Unless a similar physical disability applies, your DH is BU.

FFS.

If he wants them closed, he gets up and closes them....? Confused
