To think that Andy Murray looks like a dinosaur

When he's screaming/roaring.

Australian open. Hilarious reactions to missed shots, especially love the slow motion playbacks - including Djocovick (sp??) bemusement. Blatant "fuckkkkkkk"s screamed to the camera (BBC are going to need to be careful to not focus on him too much given it's daytime tv)

Paleo Of course everyone is entitled to an opinion. I dare say that you wouldn't like lots of my opinions. And, if I posted them on MN, you would be entitled to say so.

As being a hero, sure he has natural talent but it's taken years of dedication to nurture and maximise that talent. That's why I admire him.

Yes, because it totally matters what a sportsperson, at the top of their game, should look like. YABU. You win 8 grand slams then we can all judge your looks.

Someone has to lose. I think Djokovic may be the better player technically and definitely has the edge mentally. Though as pp have said, he's a roarer too.

Both of them embody the idea of sportsmanship which is sometimes expressed as heroism. No, it's not heroic to hit a ball over a net, but I'm not going to argue with Littlehomebird

They don't indulge in gamesmanship, they seem to be clean-living, both in terms of sport and their personal lives and the two of them can string more than two words together in interviews, especially when they've lost. At that moment I'd feel like storming off in a cloud of expletives and tears but they have been gracious and witty.

It seems pretty heroic compared to some other sports people or successful people in other fields.

I really don't understand the hatred for Andy Murray.

I don't hate AM (although I don't warm to him particularly either)

In all these years the one aspect of his game he has never been able to conquer is his temperament and that, I believe, is his downfall.

he gets through the coaches like nobody's business as well and that's not for no reason.

Djokovic was the better player. I'm sure this was meant to be a lighthearted thread, but I too am sick of the Murray bashing.

He was the subject that earned me my ban from the Daily Fail. I'm glad because i would totally lose my temper on there today.

As I recall, though, some of the comments from MNers were as bad.

I don't understand the hatred for Andy either. He seems like a genuinely nice guy both on and off court. Compared to the overpaid nancy boy's kicking a ball about a pitch, he really is a sporting hero.

I think it's tragic, how hated he is. He seems like nothing but a thoroughly decent bloke with a great sense of humour and an excellent fiancée (who can swear like a docker, so I like her ever more).

His only crimes are "Scottish" and "difficult to interview".

And as for the kerfuffle about his swearing girlfriend, what a bore. I don't know which side is more ridiculous, the 'shock horror, woman swears' lot or the 'wow, she's so cool she swears' lot.

How many times would you want to watch your boyfriend play tennis? That's pretty much Kim Sears' entire life isn't it? travelling the world and watching her boyfriend do his day job.

I doubt Novak was all that bemused. They must be fairly close for Murray to be best man at his wedding.

And as with the screeching, if roaring is what he needs to do to get the results he does, then he should roar away. No-one is being held hostage in front of their TV set and forced to watch (I hope.)
