To think Mumsnet is more than "just a forum"?

I have had a love-hate relationship with this place...sometimes I've thought it a waste of time, considered the chatter mundane and become frustrated with the seemingly narrow mindsets of some members.

BUT it's undeniably an amazing source of inspiration and education.

Before I joined I used to say "I don't identify with Feminists...I'm not one."

Now I am proud to call myself a Feminist.

AND....thanks to very recent advice from some wise users I am doing better in my career too. I was told that I wasn't charging enough as a freelancer...and to have the confidence to ask for more.

Well twice now I have done just that and been stunned to find that clients agree immediately and pay more! And it's really changed my life! I have more money!

So thank you Mumsnet. I think I love you. Grin

Mostly mumsnet makes me laugh.
Some of the threads are so funny.

I have also got some much practical advice when I've asked questions from holiday ideas to style and beauty stuff.

I also really wish mumsnet had been around 20 years ago when I was in a horrible abusive relationship.

AWholeLottaNosy · 28/01/2015 19:54

I really wish it had been around when I was in my 20s/30s. I think I wouldn't have stayed in such bad relationships for so long.

People piss me off, I piss them off too. I never make a point of remembering site names and don't do "virtual friendships" on here.

The best thing about this site is it helped me/backed me up on what is acceptable/not acceptable where being a woman is concerned and I love it/a lot of the people on here for that.

Not 'just a forum' to me. I have made some lovely rl friends through here.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 28/01/2015 21:38

I've laughed, cried, flounced, fallen out, been deleted, been in the round up, won a prize and asked Delia if it was true that she made the film crew piddle in the garden.

For all that I feel I belong, it is just a forum. One whose members at times think a leedle bit highly of themselves...MN election, my arse...one where at any given time I reckon 75% of posts are trolls and one where for every big hearted generous gesture, there's an episode of nasty and vicious bullying.

Bit like every other forum out there really. Although their roast chickens probably don't last for a week.....
