To Ask What Restaurants do small childrens's portions?

Just went to Nando's and ordered off the childrens menu for DD (4) and DS (3). Portion sizes were good for a smaller meal for an adult or a large meal for a big kid. Our children will not leave food and we cannot easily get them to share one plate. So they ate till their stomachs hurt........

Lesson learnt but are there any restuants that either have very small children's portions or have special portions for smaller children?

Why don't you eat some of the food off their plates first?

My dds get a meal each when out as both like different things. But, sometimes never finish it as are too full.

We go Harvester, Beefeater, and all inn type restaurants. Their kids meals can be large. More than I'd serve to dd's anyway.

What about buffet type restaurants?

Zizzis do a "tiny tummies" option but I think it's more toddler sized

Zizzi also do two sizes of kids' meals. One for toddlers / pre-schoolers and one for older kids.

A child's portion is for dc up to 10/12 so it will be too large for a 3-4 year old.

If your dc don't stop eating when they are full but won't share a plate could you not ask for an extra plate and share the meal between the plates ?

Do you normally insist that they finish their plate?

Can you encourage them to take a doggy bag so they can eat it later. I find most restaurant meals far too big and almost always take half home with me. Perhaps ask for a bag or box at the start so you can take some away before it gets picked at.
