You know...the ones with a pic of rain coming down a window pane and the words

"Sometimes, the people who laugh and smile the most are the ones crying silent tears of desolation behind closed doors."

I find them embarrassing and awful.

My sister just posted one. I know why....I've supported her regarding the issue...but why be so...OPEN about her difficult time?

All of her friends know and are supportive...it's not THAT bad a thing...just one of those things which happen from time to time really. AIBU not to like her post?

Mawkish crap.

Even the happy ones about loving family and friends get on my tits

My auntie pretty much exclusively uses FB to share this stuff - I have her hidden from my news feed Wink

Lyinginwait888 · 23/01/2015 17:58

Grin @ triptrap's 'whingebag' friends. That totally sums up the people I unfollow. They are still there as friends but I don't have to put up with their relentless whining and vague crap about how hard life is.

IS it? Really? No, not getting a seat on the tube is annoying but don't compare yourself to someone who is dying of cancer. Arseholes.

CrystalHaze · 23/01/2015 18:02

Can I add my loathing for the ones which are about an emotive issue (child abuse, cancer) etc, and finish with an urge for you to post the same thing on your status and leave it up for an hour, complete with the charming little addendum 'I bet I know who will and who won't be brave enough to do it'.

Just. Fuck. Right. Off. What, because I won't copy and paste the same mawkish shite that you copied and pasted from some other sap's status, that makes me a coward who loves child abuse and doesn't want a cure for cancer to be found?

[I'd post that exact same response on fb were it not for the fact that it's mainly my MIL who posts this shit and the fallout would be too wearying].

laflaca · 23/01/2015 18:11

The ones that make me shudder are the postings of photos of dead relatives, with cheesy messages to them. What's that all about?

FancyPuffin · 23/01/2015 18:22

.

FancyPuffin · 23/01/2015 18:24

Argh it won't post

Yay Hmm

Cantbelievethisishappening · 23/01/2015 18:27

Have a look at this pile of shite

acatcalledjohn · 23/01/2015 18:29

Those posts are highly annoying and I make a point of scrolling straight past. I have the same issue with things such as the ice bucket challenge. It just became a way of showing off for people with often no or little mention of the reason behind it (don't get me started on other charities hijacking it). Empty actions to show the world you supposedly care.

SistersOfPercy · 23/01/2015 18:34

Every now and again I like to post this one.

yeastextractpowder · 23/01/2015 18:39

MrsTawdry either it's a thing that a few self absorbed ass hats are posting or we have the same "friend" (J). I nearly deleted her for it but then thought I miss the fall out from it all Grin

yeastextractpowder · 23/01/2015 18:43

Yup, just re-read it. "Who's a REAL friend and who's just here to stalk. Put one word about how we met in the replies" STALK!! Hardly love. Yup infuriating. Anyway, if she keeps to her word, she have ooooh 20 friends left.

passthewineplz · 23/01/2015 18:49

The ones that annoy the hell out of me are the chain letter type ones, 'share this photo or x will happen' and the 'how many likes for x person' who is poorly or had a disability or something.

I also ignore the cancer ones that go round asking you to post a random word on your wall. I'm not entirely heartless though, I have empathy for someone who is ill/disabled ect. I had cancer, I just get fed up of having to see stuff relating to it every day.

And don't get me started on selfies and people posting photos and status's while they're out with family and friends.... Urm you're out mate don't be so rude to the people tire with! Grrrr! Angry

supersop60 · 23/01/2015 18:55

My BIL's OW (if you get me) regularly posts this kind of crap. I have to sit on my hands not to reply - 'well, if you will have an affair with a married man, you can expect not to feel great!'
Load of rubbish.
Do like funny animal pics tho'. Grin

passthewineplz · 23/01/2015 18:56

Sorry my spelling is rubbish. My phone doesn't like the mobile site

passthewineplz · 23/01/2015 18:58

I'd have to block her supersop, I'd let rip after a glass of wine. Lol!

DoJo · 23/01/2015 19:38

Cantbelievethisishappening

I'm sort of a bit nauseous to live in a world where that piece of writing exists, and although I didn't manage to read all the way through it (for fear of eternal rage descending and my blood pressure going through the roof!) I did scroll down to the comment section which made sort-of heartening reading as at least plenty of people were calling bullshit.
I can't work out who it's most offensive to, to be honest - the poor stupid women who can't manage to hold it together if they meet a nice chap, or the saps of men who are supposed to put up with being treated like shit because the poor fragile lady they are dating is so confused about being in a relationship! It reads a little like instructions for capturing a feral animal that needs vetinary attention and it will take me a while to recover...!

acatcalledjohn · 23/01/2015 19:51

Awesome, Sisters. Message shared.

Quite some time ago someone turned Danny Dyer's tweets in to motivational posters. Don't care much for Danny Dyer, can't stand motivational posters, but the combination gave me a good giggle.

Danny Dyer Motivational Tweets

Particularly like the ducks one.

flipchart · 23/01/2015 19:54

I quite like the one asking for one word how we met posts. Although I haven't been threatened with being culled.
I've never done one but it's quite interesting to see how people of many different backgrounds know a person.

Summerisle1 · 23/01/2015 20:02

Absolutely pissing myself at Danny Dyer's Motivational Tweets! Many thanks for the link acatcalledjohn

SistersOfPercy · 23/01/2015 20:04

Cat, thank you for sharing that. Bloody genius. Also love the ducks.

acatcalledjohn · 23/01/2015 20:32

This article tells you about why you're encouraged to 'like' posts like that. Criminal activity apparently. Shock
