nearly two years ago!

I am bu aren't i?

checking dp's bank statements fot tax return and in july 2013 theres a £400 spend in tesco.Hmm

we have racked our brains and cannot think of anything we bought. it most definitely wasn't groceries.

by the same virtue if that amount of money just disappeared from our account we absolutely would have noticed.

do you think they would be able to tell us?

my thinking is no way but worth a try??

Did you use their cash machine to withdraw spending money?

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 22/01/2015 09:54

I think it might have fraudulent activity.

weeblueberry · 22/01/2015 09:57

Did you use their bureau de change?

LatinForTelly · 22/01/2015 09:58

The loyalty card data I used to work with (not Tesco, obv) would definitely have had this data, and at item/transaction level, for that long ago, easily accessible by an analyst. Whether or not they would release it to a member of the public is another question.

Although isn't there something in the data protection act which means you can request any and all data held on you by an organisation at any time, for an admin charge? I think there used to be.

LurkingHusband · 22/01/2015 09:58

Bureau de change might have more detailed/longer records, since they're covered by money-laundering rules ...

I would seriously hope that clubcard data of that age had been anonymised and aggregated.

Less than two years history? Definitely not where I was working. But it was years ago. Practice might have changed now.

I work in a shop, you need some exact details but we'd be able to find out.
I could search that date for transaction of that exact amount. It wouldn't bring up many results, probably only one, so would be easy to then find the till you was served on, who served you, what you bought, time, etc.
We're not as big of a company as Tesco though so don't know if there's would be better, or if indeed they'd need to wipe it every so often as it's just too much information to keep.

Did you buy currency?
Was it someone's big birtgday and you bought a big present along with your grocery shop?
A holiday? I'm sure they do holidays.
Had you decorated and bought new decorations/ornaments/rugs/lamps?
Someone off to uni and paid for all their new stuff to take?
Laptop/phone/tv/camera.
Great deal on wine & gin so stocked up? Grin
clutching at straws

Does it really matter, given that if it was either an error or fraud there is absolutely nothing you can do about it now after such a long time?
