To shave my baby's head?

Dd is 10 weeks old and has lots of feathery hair. People are always commenting "how lovely, she has so much hair."

Last week we had to go to A&E to have a hair tourniquet removed and I'm worried she's going to get another one. She keeps rubbing the hair off her head and I'm constantly pulling it off her little fingers and toes.

The hair also keeps getting fluff caught in it, not to mention the sick.

Where was the tourniquet, fingers or toes? A baby on my family had it on hid toe, I never knew about them until he had it - the doctor told the parents hairs can often get stuck inside the toe of sleepsuits when they are washed, and then we don't see them when we put the baby in the suit. So not necessarily the baby's own hair, as in his case there were two people in the house with long, thick hair.

I had to take my DD to A&E at 11 months with a hair tourniquet didn't know it had a name on her toe. The nurses said they hadn't seen one in ages but had two that week.

It didn't occur to me to do anything to prevent a recurrence and I wasn't advised to do anything differently.

Madmum24 -- I think the poster meant nair on the actual hair tourniquet, not on the baby's head! still not sure it would be a good idea though, given how sensitive their skin is.

I wouldnt cut or shave her hair for this reason. Now you know about it, you're going to be checking everything near her for stray hairs very vigorously anyway, as it could be caused by anyone's stray hairs, not just her own.
