Applied for a job at Sainsburys, already worked for them before about 2 weeks ago.

Just called them to book myself an interview, only to be told I cant interview for a role as General assistant, because I already failed an online assessment back in November, I cant apply for another role as General assistant for 6 months, despite the fact I have already been employed by them after I failed that test. So I lose out on a chance of another job because I failed a test that I have passed twice since then. If the job title had been different, I could have had an interview.

how ridiculous! I would be asking to speak to their personnel manager

It's to stop you "learning" the answers. A lot of people fail and then look them up online, but are lacking the skills that were needed, so the interview is a waste of time. The 6 months limit suggests that you've actually learnt some new skills since then, rather than just looked up the answers.

Although it's entirely debatable whether these tests judge skills at all....

I had to call their main HR department to book this interview. I had no idea you couldnt role apply for job roles if you had already failed the test for those roles.

If the role was Customer Service Assistant, it wouldnt have been an issue.

They dont test, because I failed one and past another in the space of a week, I had no time to learn the answers, they dont even tell you the answers anyway.

What kind of things do they ask? Curious.

This is one I just about remember:

You are working as a colleague at Sainburys. You are working on the shop floor stocking shelves, you notice a large queue at the customer service desk and only one person on it. You also notice a colleague near by at a checkout.

Then you have to give your answers on best/worst thing to do in that situation. They give you 4 answers and you have to pick 1 each for best and worst.

Others include what you would do if you see spillages but your dealing with a customer.

A customer wants a certain product.

Your working with a colleague, how you handle situations with them.

Its all multiple choice.
