Nasty neighbour stories? If they got resolved or if you or them ended up moving?

I have terrible neighbours and have asked advice here before and read similar threads which end without a real conclusion.

So what did finally happen?

kappa I know I shouldn't have laughed but I found it funny that your first question back to exit was if she lost money on her move not if heart attack neighbour was ok Grin

Once we'd realised we had to move we were very careful not to raise any sort of grievance against our neighbours because we would have had to declare this to prospective buyers. In our case this was relatively easy as they were seemingly really nice, and I very much doubt a neighbourly complaint would have stopped them shooting the hell out of their car dealer rivals.

My mum is moving out of my childhood home this month after about 25 years. About 12 years ago an older couple moved in next door and the man was very over friendly, my mum just didn't like him and didn't want to get involved playing happy neighbours. He would peg Easter eggs on our washing (at easter obv) etc even though we didn't talk. He may have been harmless but my mum just didn't like his forcefulness in trying to be involved with us. They turned nasty though and would complain about us to the council about our garden being a mess, we were noisy, all sorts. The wife would call my dsis a "little white bitch" she was only bloody 6! Eventually it got to a point where we would all just completely ignore one another and it has been like that ever since. He has tried maybe a handful of times to try be amicable again but its all too little too late. My mum is a very strong person so it didn't really make our lives hell or anything, just very bizarre, unnecessary behaviour.

When dh and I first moved in together into our first little cottage, it was a back-to-back. Lovely at first but in the last few months of my pregnancy we got new neighbours directly behind us who would okay bassline music full blast at all hours, it was awful. There was once 25+ teens in the passage to the back houses all fighting at 2am, there were alcohol bottles left smashed all over the garden/road. We had a loveheart scratched into our car bonnet and a note "your fella's fit" under the wiper! One night their windows were put through, it was just awful. We left our tenancy early, couldn't stand it!
We have lively neighbours now, a mum and her daughter, her son has recently left home. The mum is deaf but we still 'talk' as much as we are able, she is always asking after our dcs, lovely woman.

I don't want to go into details but just yesterday completed sale on house that got us away from someone I believe is a sociopath, who moved in next door to us a few years back.
We accepted a lower offer just to make sure it sold so yes it cost us money but worth every penny.
Sold to a landlord so I don't feel guilty selling a house next to a loon as tenants can move more easily than buyers, if she starts on them

Madame - congratulations I bet it's a weight off

We moved in august after our ndns were partying til all hours, though not half as bad as some of these. We moved to a house inbetween an elderly couple and a nice family, however the old couple moved in November. I was honestly dreading who was getting moved in, but luckily they seem ok so far. Young couple with 2 young dds and 2 staffys. Hardly hear anything from them, in fact i bet they consider us the noisy ones when dd2 goes into a strop.

SorchaN · 18/01/2015 20:46

I used to live next door to an elderly couple who drank heavily and screamed at each other every evening from 10pm until 2am when presumably they fell asleep. Their son was a drug dealer and people would stand outside their house at all hours of the day and night, shouting his name until he came out to sell them drugs. On one occasion he broke into our shed and stole everything (power tools etc) and sold it. (For various reasons we could prove it was him.)

I moved a few years ago and there are drug dealers down the road, although they don't seem to cause much trouble. But there's also a pack of feral children who vandalise cars and houses. Not much can be done about them. I wish it were easier to deal with troublesome neighbours.

My ndn is amazing! She's my little sister! We love living next door to each other and the kids love it too. We're so very lucky after reading this thread.

Lived here coming up for 19 years. Not long after we'd bought the house we had issues with neighbor, especially her teenage daughters and music. Ended up getting the noise pollution team in and all went quite.

Her kids left home, she was on her own and over the years we've mellowed and do get on. Five years ago she got a dog. It barks from the minute she leaves the house until she gets home, sometimes eight hour shifts.
She's recently moved a partner in. Transpires he is incapable of closing a door and the slamming actually shakes our bed. This can happen up to three in the morning. I've had a word many times, her excuse is the doors swell in winter Hmm

We've come to the conclusion now is the time to move. We are slowly prepping the house for sale and hope to be on the market around easter time. Fortunately we can't lose as we bought in a crash. We won't consider anything that isn't detached.
