Lovely new bottle of oven mate and stuff for doing racks just arrived . Been looking forward to doing this all week.

Is anyone else this sad or is it just me?

not at all unreasonable.

DP went out for lunch and I went to town on the cooker with a steam cleaner, even took the door apart to clean between the glass -I can see into the oven right now and am quite pleased with myself.

Yabu. VV unreasonable. Oven cleaning is grim and boring.

I really should introduce you to my mil. She is obsessed with oven cleaning. She keeps bringing me new products to keep my oven clean and just doesn't seem to get that I am NOT interested.

I've seen her own oven and it is shockingly clean. It looks absolutely spotless, like it's never been used. It makes me angry for reasons I don't quite understand.

wobblyweebles · 17/01/2015 16:53

Mine is self cleaning. Ran it the other day. Very satisfying.

Hatespiders · 17/01/2015 17:53

You smug thing, I'd like to smack your bottom for showing off. Grin

I cheat and use tin foil laid lightly on top of spitty roasts, and under drippy tarts.

I only use the small oven, and it's self cleaning (thank you God) but the door is very brown, so will try the dishwasher tablet trick.

Op if you're ever in Norfolk, call round and you can get on with our oven while I have a nice buttered crumpet and a cup of tea...

Yanbu. Oven mate makes it so easy and its fun seeing it come clean out if the bag. Why pay someone else to experience that joy!

Musicaltheatremum · 17/01/2015 18:34

I've just defrosted the freezer. Such an exciting life.

nooyearnooname · 18/01/2015 11:35

okay I need some help please! 2 applications of oven mate yesterday and one overnight and there are still quite a few stubborn brown / black bits that just will not shift, weirdly all on one side of the oven and on one half of the back (DP reckons is something to do with the way the fan blows).

Any ideas? What's left appears to be completely welded on, it's not even sticky just rock hard. Will it ever come off? Confused

OP posts:
MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 18/01/2015 12:12

Can't help with the welded on bits, but I gave our oven its bi annual clean a couple of weeks ago! Oven pride is bloody amazing. I could see INTO the oven FFS! Unfortunately some dripped on the floor - when I wiped it off I realised just how grim our 'cream' lino is. Now planning to oven pride the floor too. Grin

Just don't use it on non-stick pans...., I learned the hard way....
