To want to find a pâté that does not contain pork??

I used to love eating pâté but I haven't eaten pork for the past 10 years. I've trawled far and wide but simply cannot find any that don't contain pork as one of the main ingredients. It doesn't matter whether it's pork, duck, chicken flavour, they all have pork fat.

Defeated and dejected I decided to just buy the salmon one from Aldi. Salmon being a poor substitute to the meat ones and I wasn't too happy. Anyhoo, was just about to slather it on some toast when I thought I'd read the label... bloody pork! In a FISH pâté!

Why why why?

I'm going to have to make my own aren't I? Sad

Findlater's chicken liver pate is the best I've find outside of a deli or restaurant.

Piggy I have no idea, but maybe if people stopped eating them one might be discovered.

I remember reading somewhere that it was pure fluke that early man chose the dog over the pig as their favoured domestic pet as both have similar traits. I suppose dog's speed and fangs proved to be the deciding factors.

I don't know about posh, Distressed, but I usually get an email after placing my Ocado order telling me how much I have saved, compared to Tesco. It's usually a few pounds, and ion the odd occasion I could have bought it cheaper at Tesco, I get a voucher for the difference (which is rarely more than £1).

I know you have found some now but just in case you want to do your own

1 tub of chicken livers (usually in the frozen section)
1 block of butter
1 frying pan
1 dish
1 food processor/blender

optional extras - onion, brandy, salt and pepper, dried herbs, garlic.

Put everything edible in the frying pan and fry until the livers are cooked through - you will have loads of butter don't worry that's fine.

Pour it all in a food processor/blender and blend until smooth, then pour it in to the dish (it will look like runny poo, don't worry that's how it looks at this stage)

leave it to cool, I usually leave it over night and viola a whole dish of chicken liver pate for under £2.

Holland and barrett do a vegetarian mushroom pate paste, it's lovely. Also I noticed in tesco in the special aisle
some veggie pate
