www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/11293313/Follow-five-golden-rules-to-prevent-dementia-says-study.html

Just read this and I'm pretty angry with them.I've had several grandparents get this and they were all healthy, fit and intelligent. To suggest you can avoid it by lifestyle is just wrong. Like they have recently found out with cancer that the vast majority is just bad luck, nothing to do with lifestyle. I think this is truenof dementia also.

They aren't saying you can avoid it, they are saying you can reduce your risks.

Surely they are just reporting the research which says that lifestyle factors play a part in dementia?? Would be interested in seeing research which days cancer is just down to bad luck, I thought that lifestyle factors were huge risk factors for some common cancers?

The headline is the problem because completely overlooks the fact that the lifestyle factors are about reducing risk, not removing it altogether. That is explained in the article, though and is backed up by statistics.

The telegraph isn't saying its self inflicted, but are saying certain things can increase the chance of delevolping this cruel illness.

My nan has mixed dementia and it's such a cruel illness.
