Look what I didn't win on ebay. Really couldn't have gone over £325 and then I'd have had to raise some of it back by selling my entire paperback collection

a huge collection of hard backs

Only true fans of old school stories could possibly understand :( AIBU to sob and buy myself hot chocolate and cakes filled with a mountain of lightly whipped cream then sulk up a mountain until I'm rescued by a doctor?

Oh my lamb!

I sense double shock here! You need a brawny villager to carry you down a mountain/ glacier and deposit you to the nearest TB doctor who might diagnose you as being very busy soon or having your hands full!

Btw op I have the full set! Ha ha ha.

Could I be more Prussian!

Theboodythatrocked · 14/01/2015 00:13

Or Betty Wynne Davies?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/01/2015 08:00

I think it was lists.

You're all going to be aghast I tell you , but I sold an entire complete hardback collection of CS first editions for my mum . Sold them to a collector through a dealer, and it paid for a new bathroom she desperately needed. And that was in 2004!

squoosh · 15/01/2015 10:18

Nah. I'd be aghast if you said you sold them at a car boot sale for a fiver a piece. But it sounds she like a good price if she was able to buy a new bathroom with the proceeds. And I'm sure they're now in the hands of another Chalet School obsessive who is thrilled to have them.

Theboodythatrocked · 15/01/2015 10:45

I would rather have the full hard back set than a new bathroom!

But I am sad.

Just finished head girl and musing over the abduction of not only Robin but also Cornelia by a 'lunatic'.

Holidays given because old girls visit the school.

Love it. Can you imagine parents treads on mumsbet!

Glastokitty · 15/01/2015 10:58

You can get books? Where?
Not as nice as hard backs of course but I'd settle!

Theboodythatrocked · 15/01/2015 11:01

Kitty Internet and I have picked to a few at charity shops.

There's a chaiet school thread in children's book section too and they post copies of the books

Tobyjugg · 15/01/2015 11:06

Many years ago, we were very skint and one of the things that got sold was DW's nearly complete set of Chalet School hardbacks. She's still a bit teary when she thinks about them.

Tobyjugg · 15/01/2015 11:07

posted too early.

YA definitely NBU.

Glastokitty · 15/01/2015 11:10

Ebooks I mean, sorry! Stupid iPad!

squoosh · 15/01/2015 11:14

Awww, poor Mrs Tobyjugg. I suppose that unlike a painting or a car or whatever, selling a treasured collection is harder because you've channelled so much time and effort into putting it together.
