Anyone used them? I've seen a lot of propaganda saying they work but would like some 'real life' thoughts please!

I have around 5 stone to lose and its just not happening and something that supresses my appetite would be brilliant!

The absolute best thing you can do is eat real food as close to its natural state as possible, eat healthy fats, wholegrain carbs, lean protein and as much fruit and veg as you can.

ExitPursuedByABear · 12/01/2015 11:58

Exactly. No processed foods. If you can't pronounce the ingredients, don't eat it.

I bought these www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/holland-barrett-raspberry-ketones-capsules-100mg-60051507 sorry can't link on my phone. I've lost some weight, have been eating what I normally eat to see if they work I'm going to start watching what I eat now and been extra healthy.

CarbeDiem · 12/01/2015 13:39

OP if you see them on an advert online and it gives opinions of 'real people' who have took them and lost half their body weight in 20 minutes Hmm
You know the ones.
Google around for the newest 'miracle' weight loss rubbish and you'll see their pages with testimonies from the same people. I've noticed it a few times. Sometimes they change the names but it's the same pictures.

5:2 did work weight loss wise for me Marjorie but I know for some people it may not, particularly if they've 'dieted' over the years and their metabolism is all over the place. (Not saying this is the case for you)
I did lose 2.5 stone on it and kept it off.
I think it suits if you're lazy like me! Nothing much to think about or plan, just don't put food in your mouth bar 500kcal twice a week. Don't go mad on the naughty stuff the rest of the time.

Sorry, I'm a bit pro 5:2 as you can tell!

Avoid the ketone trial. Too good to be true.

I did lose 3 stone about 15 years ago so maybe that's what it is Pulps. After I lost the weight I did 5:2, although I didn't know it was a special diet I just thought it would be good to have a couple of days where I didn't eat much and it worked I didn't put a single pound on for 5 years and I then got pregnant and I put all the weight back on again.

I have tried 5:2 since as a tool for losing weight and I lose just under a stone and then it stops and I can't lose anymore but as you say it's quite possible I've altered my metabolism. I'm now sticking to 1400 calories a day and once I've lost a stone I will reduce to 1200. When I've got to my goal weight I'll do 5:2 again because it really does help in maintaining a weight.

I bought a tub of raspberry keytones a few months back off Amazon. Used them for a few weeks and saw no change in weight. Funnily enough I found them this morning so have started taking them again, just to finish the bottle off really as I hate waste lol

But no, I don't think they work.

blueballoon79 · 12/01/2015 17:05

I got some from a supposed free trial where you only pay £4.95 for shipping.
My card was charged £249. I couldn't get the money back and no they don't work.
I ended up losing weight myself after that, it took a year and I ate smaller portions and exercised 5 days a week.
Unfortunately none of these miracle pills work.

Queen, this was mentioned on BBC Breakfast today...

"Dr Chris van Tulleken and Prof Tanya Byron team up with scientists from Oxford and Cambridge universities to see if they can help 75 overweight members of the public win their battle with weight loss.

Each dieter undergoes a series of scientific tests to find out the main reason for why they put on weight. The constant cravers have genes that mean they feel hungry all the time, the feasters have a misfiring gut hormone that stops them from knowing when they’re feeling full. The final group, the emotional eaters, eat in response to stress.

Each group is put on a specific diet that is tailored to counteract the main reason they put on weight. Will this new approach to dieting be more effective?"

Sounds fascinating. I'm looking forward to watching that!Smile

QueenofKelsingra · 12/01/2015 19:58

livid I have a feeling I would be all of the above groups!!

well I've completed my first fast day without falling off the waggon so that's a start! just wish I could rewind back to stop myself getting to this point!
