To not want to do even more...

To keep it short.... just been asked what we are doing at Easter as son and dil might end a dog sitter. We are already committed to dog sitting for two weeks at Whit. I feel mean but why should we commit to this so far in advance ? We might want to go on holiday ourselves at Easter. I feel mean refusing to commit and wouldn't mind for a couple of days really. What do others think ? A bit of a cheek or quite reasonable ? Get the feeling this might " grow" in terms of " bookings " for the future and now we are retired we like the freedom to do things at the last minute or take advantage of good deals. Now I feel selfish.

They are NBU to ask.

You would NBU to say no.

I don't think there's anything wrong in them asking you but it's also fair enough for you to say you don't want to or that you may have plans so can't commit just now.

We have two cats and can't put them in a cattery as one of them becomes very stressed and ill as a result (we only went away 3 days for the first time!). We do have friends who can pop in and look after them but DH likes to ask his parents to come and stay. I feel it's a bit much but so far they've been happy to as they turn it into a holiday and we always buy in lots of treats and leave vouchers for meals out etc.
I hope they would say if they didn't want to though.
