AIBU to get a vote on my chicken? A, B, C or D

My oven has conked out halfway through doing 4 chicken thighs. They have been on 180deg for an hour. Probably needed another 15 - 20 mins just to be sure. The oven overheats and then comes back on when its cooled down.

So. Would you;

a) Wait for the oven to cool down enough to turn back on and then cook for the remaining time (I think this will be food poisoning territory) Could take 40 mins to cool down.
b) put them in the microwave
c) fry them up
d) any other ideas

Before anyone says it, no I cant keep the oven door closed, Ive opened it and prodded the chicken to check how done it was. The heats gone.

Just what I needed, Im starving Angry

Don't be daft - I bet it's specially bred hand-reared chickens that've been fed nothing but strawberries. They're supposed to be pink!

mymoonandstars · 08/01/2015 21:02

I wondered about the cooking time and checked - most websites say 30 - 40 minutes at 220c so of course it would take longer at 180. And on food unwrapped they bred a chicken larger than a turkey. Sometimes AIBU is the answer to the question nobody asked.

NewToRoo · 08/01/2015 21:40

I just wonder whether it is getting to 180 at all.

LuisSuarezTeeth · 08/01/2015 21:43

The chicken had 4 thighs? Shock

Won't somebody think about the chicken...

42bunnytails · 08/01/2015 21:49

I'd have thought they'd be over cooked already, but if your sure they aren't then chop and fry.

The bloody bits round the bone in thighs mean you'll be tempted to over cook them in a microwave. (DD2 prefers brown meat and I've been there with thighs, drumsticks that look slightly undercooked, but probably weren't.)

What happened to the chicken thighs?! ??????????

toffeeboffin · 08/01/2015 22:41

This thread has made my day Grin

Mine too toffee, I don't often actually laugh at mumsnet but 'won't somebody think of the chickens' really tipped me over the edge Grin
