I'm sorry if if this is in the wrong place but I'm desperate.

I have found several small lumps in my right breast, they seem to move around sort of when I press them.

I have locked myself in my bathroom right now in tears as I won't be able to make a doctors appointment until tomorrow and I'm not even sure if I will be seen then as it's always so busy.

I will just add that I have just started my period today.

Sorry it's a long post and if it is in the wrong place.

Breast tissue often feels lumpy around period time.

Titsalinabumsquash · 07/01/2015 21:22

It's likely to be tissue, your breasts are made up of loads of little ducts, nodules and the like, they all change during your cycle, make the appointment to ease your mind but it's likely to be fine. Smile

Oh I really feel for you. It sounds alarming and I can really understand how you feel but try not to worry. Honestly!

As a positive story I found some lumps once, ended up getting scanned with ultrasound and checked out by specialists. It was nothing. I apparently just have lumpy breasts.

You also say you've just got your period. That can definitely affect your breasts. So it really could be nothing.

Not to say that you shouldn't do anything because you should always get something like this checked. I get the idea that you've just noticed these lumps and that you check reasonably regularly or are at least aware of how your breasts are? In which case these lumps are probably very new. So if they were something more serious then you'll have caught them early which is ideal. Although as I say before, it could very likely be nothing!

Re doctors appointment cry / scream / whatever it takes to get that appointment. Tell them what you're worried about and they should fit you in tomorrow. It's important to get your reassurance if nothing else because I'm sure whatever anyone says on here you will still feel stressed out until you've actually had someone check you out.

Try to do something to relax you and take your mind off it. Try not to Google it! Maybe a hot bath or something might help? Good luck relaxing and sleep well Flowers

I've had these before. Of course you should get it checked but very very likely to just be hormonal.

My breasts started getting a bit lumpy when I was in my late 30s, usually just before or during my period. I talked to my GP, who said it was normal for women my age. Not sure how old you are, but could it be the same thing? I'm in my mid-40s now and have had no trouble - just a bit of lumpiness. But see your GP just to be on the safe side.

Chocolatefudgebrownieicecream · 07/01/2015 21:26

Born in 1986? Most likely cyclical breast change or they are (and this is not a worrying thing) fibroadenoma (nicknamed breast mouse because it moves around) which is also benign change. Get it checked, you always must for new lumps but do not worry tonight. (They may be gone tomorrow if cyclical changes)

DDDDDORA · 07/01/2015 21:33

You need to check again after your period, maybe 2 or 3 days after it has finished. Your breast tissue changes alot during your period.
Make an appointment for peace of mind.

Thanks all,

God I sound so silly, I've just had a rough week and I'm always so emotional during my periods!

bexster5 yes I do check regularly and have just noticed them,

I was born in 1986, I am 29 in 21 days.

Get them checked after your period. It sounds very normal though so try not to worry.

Lucyandpoppy · 07/01/2015 21:47

((((hugs))) always worth getting these things checked out, I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry too much. This is coming from the woman that was so convinced that her slightly uneven sized tonsils were something sinister that I rang OH in tears in the middle of the night and begged him to make the 2 hour journey to where I was staying and take the day off to come with me to the doctors. So I totally know how easy it is to be very afraid of things like this. I went to the doctor once for a lump on my breast (I'm in my 20's too) and it turned out to be a spot... oops lol

GingerbreadPudding · 07/01/2015 23:00

Go to the docs. They're likely to be 'Breast mice' which are harmless moveable lumps. Very common in young women especially if you're on the pill. I had several and was told they wouldn't 'go' on their own and might grow bigger so I opted to have them removed. If you see the got hey will have a feel and refer you to hospital. There the doc will also feel (and in my case found one that I hadn't!) then they will want to doc needle biopsy where they stick z needle in to suck some of the lump out for testing. I didn't want this to happen as it sounded painful so I opted straight for lump removal under anaesthetic and then they tested it afterwards.

kissmyheathenass · 07/01/2015 23:06

I had something very similar in the summer - the lumps definitely became noticeable a few days before my period. They tended to disappear for the first two weeks of my cycle and then start to appear for the latter half.

Like you I immediately feared the worst but a mammogram revealed nothing at all to worry about.

Its so so common to have lumpy bits , and its nearly always normal breast tissue. Get it checked and try not to worry (yes, its impossible not to, I know).
