Law of attraction

AIBU to think it's true?

Haven't mastered it so no evidence it is or isn't... But the theory is attractive after leaving mainstream/fundamental christianity...

Just wondering/having an internal philosophical debate as can't sleep tonight

Well according to the fundamentalist christians JS is roasting in Hell with little devils poking him with pitchforks.

After years of thought I have come to this conclusion. We live, we die, and in between some nice things happen and some nasty things happen and there is sod all you can do about it.

I think that some people have the wits, intelligence, determination and tenacity to get a generally positive experience from life. Others, not so much.

I observe the people that I work with making poor choices sometimes and it backfires on them. You can see the trouble coming, but they haven't been able to. I've made careless choices too for one reason or another.

If I make a bad choice and it results in something bad or difficult to live with then I use all my energy to turn things around. I tend to be quite a positive person and it gets you through life.

Stuff like illness or natural disaster is just down to bad luck. You usually can't avoid it. You can try and minimise the likelihood of something bad happening, but we all succumb eventually.

The whole concept of the law of attraction is that you are responsible for everything that happens to you because of the thoughts you have.

So the refugees around the world starving in camps are there not because of warring governments, terrorists destroying their country etc but because they were thinking negative thoughts Angry

The Jews were exterminated in concentration camps because they were thinking negative thoughts, nothing to do with the nazi ideology and murderous tyranny.

The minorities in Syria and Iraq currently being genocided and enslaved are to blame for having negative thoughts, not the pschyopathic terrorists and those funding them.

Every assault, rape, murder victim is 'guilty' of attracting the violence to themselves.

Same with poverty, it's not the bankers, corrupt governments, war that cause starvation, no, it's poor people having negative thoughts. If only they imagined food magically appearing it would and they wouldn't have to watch their kids starve to death.

Again with sickness and disease, it's not your genetics or environmental response, it's you, you made yourself ill and if only you'd imagine the cancer gone it would, if only you'd imagine yourself walking you'd be out of the wheelchair, if only you'd imagine the pain disappeared, it would vanish. Ridiculous and an offensive denial of reality.

It's victim blaming and criminal exonerating in it's purest and most extreme form. It's popular with the rich and privileged because it makes them feel deserving of their situation and absolves their guilt for how their investments, policies and power negatively impact on everybody else.

Fools will believe it until they experience a reality that makes them realise that we're not gods and can't manipulate reality with the power of our mind.

I do not understand why you say that the law of attraction is rubbish, and talk about third world countries or the Jews in concentration camps. Of course, most events in our lives is a matter of fate, place of birth or the people around us, but thanks to the law of attraction, we can change our reality. Current reality. We can't influence the past, but we can change the present life.

It's all about awareness. Do you think that poor people living in a small Indian village have a clue about the Law of Attraction? Do you think they yearn to be rich or live in a Western country? And why, when they do not have a television and have no idea that there are other countries of the world and a better life?

There's a lot of people from poor Third World countries who have decided to change their lives. Lots of artists, actors, writers or scientists. Just read something about Bruce Lee.

I personally use positive affirmations and everything tremendously works. You know, this is only my opinion. I understand that not all people in the world are fans of the Law of Attraction. Someone likes sweet food, someone salty. We are all different. However, I had immense difficulties in life, especially with my health and the law of attraction help me.

When you start researching law of attraction , its like falling down a rabbit hole. There is soooo much. But start with watching the movie 'the secret'. Then go on to read stuff by abraham/esther hicks. There is lots of hicks stuff on youtube. From there the list goes on and on but an excellent book is 'conversations with god'. The under pinning i dea of this is quantum mechanics. Science has actually proven alot of this to be true. What you think, you attract. However i have my own personal beliefs about illness and suffering which i won't state here as it is a massive subject in itself but it all links in eventually. If you need more links etc. pm me.
