To wish I'd taught my children to cry for Daddy in the night?

Been up since 3 (maybe even 2.30) with DS who was not going to be ignored tonight. Dd has also woken up calling for me. Dh did wake to deal with her but went back to bed without seeing if I wanted him to take over. I'm working tomorrow and he isn't so a bit pissed off!

Wake your husband up and tell him to take over.

I solved this by working nights!

He did take over, thank goodness and is dealing with them now whilst I lie in bed pretending to be asleep. It is going to be a long day!!

I told DS2 to shout for dad when DD was born. It worked and he still does it now

My dd shouts mummy and baby sister. What help a 4 month old will be......

I feel the opposite this morning. During our 2 weeks off my 2 year old has been used to his dad getting up with him while I laid in bed for half the day so now only wants dad and is quite insistent that only dad will get him dressed. I miss the days off...

Oh mairy they are horrors aren't they. The said 2 year old was having a tantrum earlier and me and dh were standing united so he did start crying for his sister, manipulative bugger!

I must be a terrible Mother because once mine got to around 3 I just stopped hearing them! They...in their natural bid for survival soon worked out that Mummy didn't come when called if she was asleep!

So it was DAAAAADEEEE for everything from bad dreams, wet beds or scary shadows.

I wish I could teach my kids this!

When DC2 came along I told DH DC1 was his responsibility in the night as I spent half the night bfing. This worked a treat, DC1 easily fell into call for/coming and waking Daddy. Then as DC2 got older she learnt to copy DC1, so once she was no longer bfing she too started calling for Daddy.
Now 90% of the time they call for him/appear at his side of the bed.

My DD just jumps out of her own bed and stealthily slips into the empty space in my bed, no need to wake mummy now is there.
