It's quite jolly.

The numbers and stuff mean absolutely nothing to me and I have no idea how to play or what makes up a game.

But it's quite fun to watch.

It's getting exciting now. Anderson to win, phil 'the power' Taylor always bloody wins, boring now.

I woke up this morning and remembered that Anderson won (or, more importantly, Taylor lost!) and felt so happy when I was sure I didn't dream it. I despise Phil Taylor with a passion that scares me. I have not felt that way about any other human I can remember, not even Farage. People always answer criticism of Taylor with 'but he's the best player ever' etc but to me that is so irrelevant, I don't support someone just because they always win, I support them because of their darting ability yes but also their personality, sportsmanship, relative good looks likeability etc. And Phil Taylor fails miserably on all these points. He really does come across as the most arrogant, unsporting, patronising, condescending arsehole I have ever had the misfortune to witness. Disclaimer to the following - I know this is shallow and snobby - I saw a program about him where it showed the inside of his house and it was full of the tackiest new money shit imaginable. And I know he can't help this but he has a revolting body shape, like an old woman. When he loses he usually blames it on everything and everybody; an illness, a family problem, someone in the crowd, a draught on the stage!!! He managed to make Anderson's victory all about him somehow. When he speaks about his opponents he is so belittling while on the surface being modest and generous about them - I think a lot of people miss this and think he's being genuine, but to me he couldn't be more false. A case in point would be last night where he kept ruffling Anderson's hair afterwards and called him a 'good lad' or whatever - if the reverse had happened Taylor would have gone MENTAL. He is chronic sufferer of small man syndrome anyway but he is so hypocritical, he doesn't like anyone to celebrate their good shots or touch him but he ticked Anderson under the chin when he won a set! I so wanted Anderson to tickle his turkey neck back when he won but of course he didn't because Anderson is a decent human being. And he's always namedropping his 'mate' Robbie Williams. Oh and there's the small matter of the sexual assault conviction that everyone seems to have forgotten about.

I dislike the culture of the Sky darts, the objectification of the dolly birds on stage, the rowdiness of the yobbos in the crowd, the blatant idolisation of PT by the announcers and most of the presenters (though I'm pretty sure Wayne Mardle doesn't like him). I prefer the ideology of the BDO, the inclusion of women, the variety of players old and new, the unashamed working classness of it. It's not sexist compared to the Sky coverage but Bobby George did make some dreadful dinosaur remarks yesterday - thankfully Colin Murray had the grace to look very embarrassed on his behalf!

Anyway, Phil Taylor rant aside, I bloody love darts so YANBU.

Are you feeling better after getting that off your chest? MrsKravitz Smile

Wayne Mardle loathes him.

Grin at MrsKravitz. I have to admit I agree with just about all of that. Contrast Taylor's behaviour with Barney's heartfelt speech about Bunting after their match, which had them both close to tears. Barney comes across as a pleasant human being. Taylor, on the other hand, does not.

I was delighted that Anderson won.

Timeshift tells the story of how a traditional working-class pub game became a national obsession during the 1970s and 80s, and looks at the key role television played in elevating its larger-than-life players into household names.

Siobhan Finneran narrates a documentary which charts the game's surprising history, its cross-class and cross-gender appeal, and the star players that, for two decades, transformed a pub pastime into a sporting spectacle like no other.

Featuring legendary names such as Alan Evans and Jocky Wilson and including contributions from Eric Bristow, Bobby George, John Lowe and Phil Taylor.
