To buy one baby gift

I'm not sure about the etiquette here and if I'm being unreasonable.

Going to a baby shower - I intend to give a gift there and a card once the baby arrives but not another gift. Is this unreasonable?

I'm telling my friends not to throw me one. We're all going out for dinner instead and I've told them they're not allowed to buy gifts.

We all have enough to pay for without them spending their hard earned money on stuff I probably don't need.

I have always had superstitions about giving baby gifts before the birth, so at my friend's baby shower I gave a small gift of some books, chocolate and toiletries for her and then sent a baby present after the baby was born.
