No girls' shoes in her size left in the Clark's sale. She's 22mo and a bit of a tomboy thug but even so...
Thing is she will need new ones in 2 months. They are soooo expensive. £32 a pair Shock

Dd1 who is 9 often has boys school shoes as they are better for active, outdoor play; and she prefers them. She has black Dr Marten boots because I'm fed up with cheaper, shoddier ones which wear away from just playing on the playground and walking to school ffs.

Dd2 needs supportive boots, so has ecco or kickers. Some of which have been pink, silver or patent red. Her school boots are currently navy.

I don't get the girls/boys shoe thing really. I remember being looked at as if I had 2 heads when I said I didn't want pale pink shoes for my 18mth old, as I didn't want them trashed. Lots of them can be unisex, but I object to girls' school shoes which are flimsy and prohibit active play.

I've recently bought DD1 pink trainers (she's had the same style in grey before but the pink ones were in the sale). What I've really noticed is a) pink shoes clash with more items of clothing than her more neutral shoes (not that much of a surprise after all shoe shops don't have many brightly coloured shoes generally) and b) I hate the constant reminder of gender that pink shoes send out. I don't mind them wearing pink t-shirts or jeans or socks but for items of clothing that are worn with everything like coats and shoes I think it's better to have a neutral colour.

Me too Ginger strangely, they're sturdy and a neutral colour too. I must've missed all the garish, tatty, flimsy shoes on one of my many shopping trips Grin

When I was little I kept asking for boys shoes. I had stupidly wide feet and my mum made me wear these horrid t-bar sandals. I finally got my wish when I was 15 (they were in the sale and cheap so I could put my case across). It was like wearing slippers all the time! They were so much more comfy. For ten years (age 5-14) it was "ohhh you don't want BOYs shoes, you want these NAICE girls shoes".
YANBU and shut your ears to the force her in pink glitter brigade!

Coco, the issue with shoes as opposed to other clothes is that a sales assistant is usually involved in shoe fitting. Shoe sales people are often, in my experience, obviously and vocally resistant to fitting "boys" shoes on a girl's feet. It's very annoying.
