To point out to the therapist that my treatment was shorter than expected?

I booked a luxury facial for 1 hour and 15 minutes which started slightly late and finished early. Overall, I was there for only very slightly over an hour. At the end I queried this when she tried to charge me the higher price. To be fair, she did let me have it for the cheaper price but I still left the salon feeling like a cheapskate even though surely it's not my fault if it finished early?

Was I unreasonable to query it or would you just have left it?

It's not great really of them not you.

One of the main parts of the charge for things like that is the time the treatment takes! So to knock off time and charge the same is in my view really not on.

Iv never really had a treatment he god so don't know what I'd do in that situation but I do t think I'd be happy.

Depends on your viewpoint.... As a qualified masseuse I see/phrase it from the angle that you should allow a certain time period (as you may have to factor in extra time for 'problem' areas or similar!) but there can be a 5-10 main give or take grey area.... So you're booking a treatment that takes around This amount on time as opposed to you will be worked on for that time period bang on, iyswim? But I guess technically yanbu if you wanted to be pernickity! :)

What on earth can you do to your face in over an hour? Not criticising,just curious.Do you have to keep still too? Confused Smile.

I disagree silverstreak. If a client is paying for 1hr 15mins then you give them 1hr 15mins. You may have to factor in extra time, but not at the client's expense.

Maras- I was surprised that there was so much to do but actually there was Grin Loads of exfoliating, creams, massaging of face and shoulders, steaming of the pores. She also managed to pick out a few of my spots, great for the sporners on here Grin It was a fab facial and I would book again, I was just a little annoyed about the timing issue.

This is a pet hate of mine. I once saved up to go to a local salon for a facial that was advertised as 'our most luxurious facial, 1 hr and 15 mins of relaxation'. Therapist kept me waiting 15 mins, then gave me a questionnaire to fill out which took about 2 mins but she left me for another 10 mins or so. So we were already 25 mins into the appointment time. Then the actual treatment lasted for about half an hour and the rest of the appointment time was 'to relax'.

I was so angry and yet I smiled politely and paid, when actually I should have pointed out that it was blatant false advertising. The standard facial in that salon was 45mins, so if they followed the same pattern it would presumably amount to about 15 mins of treatment time. I was scared to actually do anything other than smile and walk out because I was scared I would lose my temper, which is very very out of character for me.

Yanbu as long as the reason it started late was the therapist was late rather than you. If you were late to begin with then I would say you should pay the higher price. If the therapist, then by all means query it.

The consultation and/or questionnaire are part of the allocated time as is your time to get undressed and dressed again. When I was taught we allowed 15 minutes for all of the above.

I was told to arrive ten minutes early for the questionnaire so that wasn't part of the time.

scrambled I was totally furious and was scared I would start ranting and raving like a crazy woman and would end up with a restraining order or something, so I just paid up and never went back. I really taught them a lesson by removing my --once in a blue moon- customWink

Whenever I've had a treatment I have been asked to arrive 15 mins early to ensure time for form Filling and consultation. The treatment has then lasted the time advertised with 10mins to get dressed again.

However these have been at high end spas (birthday treats / holiday) so quite frankly any beauty therapist who says the treat time includes all of the above should make it clear it's x length treatment with y time for consultation etc
