Not to want to eat Xmas day leftovers today?

Went to my mums for lunch, all very nice. She had some trifle and Black Forest Gateau left over from Xmas day, I politely declined. I would eat it 1 or maybe 2 days later but no more. Was I BU? How long do you keep and then eat leftovers? Or does it depend what it is? Confused

I have some cream in a carton which I bought on Christmas Eve and which doesn't go out of date until New Year. How would putting it on a trifle suddenly make it no good?

I wont finish Xmas dinner leftovers until tomorrow! All been in fridge and sealed in tupperware. Cant see the problem?

Everything else has use by dates as a guide.

YABU.

Cream is usually fine for a week or so past the use by date anyway.

But it appears that the OP didn't want the desserts simply because she didnt fancy them, not because of how old they were.

Anyone throw yogurts away simply because they're past their sell-by date?

Storytown · 28/12/2014 20:20

No, Scholes. They keep for weeks a past their date (aren't they just off milk anyway? Grin ) In any case, you'd know as soon as you opened it if it was bad.

I do draw the line at sending out of date ones to school in a packed lunch though, but that has nothing to do with the fear that they might be bad....

Precisely, storytown. I've been known to whip the lids of them before giving to visitors for tea.
