... was it really worth it?

Or do you feel a teensy bit disappointed that you spent half a year planning one day?

YY but the implication by op its just one day says it all really.

Mine are young enough to be able to buy neutral stuff they wont grow out of for - like lego...I have a club card and wanted lego anyway, tesco had offer for 500 points for over 25 spent on lego.....so i got it then....john lewis summer sale, browse on line....buy stuff for own dc and others...sainsburies toy sale was also great for us and for gifts....

if you have ideas of what you want its much easier and young enough dc...

Thank you. I am definitely on for this now.
Then I can really enjoy december, just baking and doing crafts, going for walks and playing with the kids rather than shooting off to toys r us Xmas Grin

Oh, definitely worth it.

All plans done, started shopping and then in the small amount of free time we had in nov/Dec we could relax and laugh at the headless chickens getting into a right tizz.
Seriously though, it was good to not have to worry about money as there were so many pay days to save from and less hassle ordering things as you know you have them early then.
I'm a sahm so shop for xmas throughout the year.

I start buying in February Blush I have 6 dc, 2 have December birthdays and 3 in January so can't afford to wait till the end of the year.

Worked out well for me this year too. Probably the first time I've picked bits and pieces up from August or so. Was really pleased I did, as it happens this year my father was ill from mid November, between running up and down to hospital, making sure my Mum was ok, trying to get to 3 kids nativity plays, working, all the usual family debacles. I didn't really give much thought to Christmas until the week before and Christ I was glad I didn't have to start buying presents then.
