To be still pissed off about secret santa present?

IFuckingHateWhiteWine · 24/12/2014 19:22

At work last week we all took home our secret santa present. Mine was a bottle of white wine...this would be nice except I fucking hate white wine and don't drink it. I only drink red wine.

So now I have bottle of wine that I can't do anything with and I really could do with a glass of Wine right now. Everyone else all got lovely presents and they all loved them. I also put lots of thought into my secret santa to make sure I got them a nice gift.

I think I have a vague idea of who it is that gave me it but I have no idea whether I want to ask him and tell him in case he gets me next year.

What would you do?

Put some food colouring in it and drink it anyway.

Boredshitless · 24/12/2014 20:24

Usual suspect, you fecking beat me to it!!!!! I was going to say that Grin

Get over yourself, you didn't know what your gift was going to be, so therefore you didn't expect to have a bottle of wine of Xmas eve. So maybe you should have bought a bottle of red???? ??????

I will not even say what my SS present was. It came from Ann summers and it made me laugh a lot! Taken in the spirit it was bought.

RaspberrySnowCone · 24/12/2014 20:25

Damn it usual I was just about to say that!

Don't be so ungrateful! He gave you wine. That's very kind. I'm a super miserable cow and refuse to take part in that sort of crap for this very reason. You sound childish and grabby. Donate it to a food bank and cheer up

hels71 · 24/12/2014 20:26

My secret santa did not even manage to bring my gift in at all.....I was the only person who did not get one...

BlueBrightBlue · 24/12/2014 20:35

Don't fret the small stuff!
It sometimes happen that when we mention we don't like something we get it anyway.
I remember a friend saying she didn't like a particular liquor. I got in my head that she loved amaretto . I searched high and low for a bottle and couldn't find it anywhere.
My dear Mom offered me a bottle of Malibu to give to her but I declined saying she hated the stuff. I bought a substitute almond liquor and it turned out she loathed the stuff; and liked Malibu?
My Mom buys me purple clothes and I really do detest the colour, but she's got it into her head I love it.
It's just a bottle of wine; perhaps costing no more then £ 6.
I have had my poor cat put to sleep today. Put's everything into perspective.

Boredshitless · 24/12/2014 20:38

Sorry bluebright that's sad Thanks xx

drudgetrudy · 24/12/2014 20:43

If this is a lighthearted joke fine-otherwise you haven't got very much to worry about! Merry Christmas.Smile

Boredshitless · 24/12/2014 20:47

I think this is a wind up? Op not been back, or she's shit faced on the bottle of white??? Wine

ThereIsAPartridgeInTheKitchen · 24/12/2014 20:48

Seriously though, OP, count yourself lucky. I got a box of Thorntons chocolates which apparently means they are trying to tell me they hate me.

Lighten up.

Blondebiker4685 · 24/12/2014 20:51

It would be rather pedantic to tell him you didn't like his gift. It was almost right wasn't it? Of course you can just take it to the next social gathering you attend.

GraceFox · 24/12/2014 20:53

God yes make gravy or save it for a quiz night. It's not from a close beloved person who's able to hone into your tastes. And don't say anything...

BoneyBackJefferson · 24/12/2014 20:56

I get semi regular gifts of wine, (they are all very much appreciated) and they are all used for cooking.

Your lucky, my secret santa gift turned up a week after we did SS and I was given a fabric door stop ... a used / second hand door stop Xmas Confused - I'll swap you for the wine ha ha

WhirlyTwirlySnowflakes · 24/12/2014 21:05

It's a shame you don't like your gift, but you really, really can't tell a colleague that you didn't like it - you'd look dreadful

LuluJakey1 · 24/12/2014 21:09

BlueBright So sorry about your cat Flowers

BlueBrightBlue · 24/12/2014 21:56

He's in a better place now. I so wanted him to have a quick ending at home but it was not to be . Veterinary staff were lovely and very compassionate.
I'd drink any old shit wine to have him back again.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 24/12/2014 21:59

Could be worse. You neighbours could be holding an entire case of wine hostage.

Sunny67 · 24/12/2014 23:01

I'm waiting to see how my friends secret santa gift went down. He pulled a rather niffy work coleguees name out of the hat. So yep your right, off to boots for shower gel, shampoo and deodorant.

whothehellknows · 24/12/2014 23:17

I've been given 3 bottles of wine this year. I don't drink. Hey-ho.

loveblackcats · 25/12/2014 02:49

:O what what?

MokunMokun · 25/12/2014 04:08

I've read a few of these threads. People always say they bought a lovely thoughtful gift but received something rubbish in return. Thing is the person who received your lovely thoughtful gift may think it's shit and the person who gave you your rubbish gift may have put a lot of thought into it.

I hate doing Secret Santa!

Salene · 25/12/2014 05:19

Be grateful you got a xmas gift, so many people get bugger all on xmas day.

PhaedraIsMyName · 25/12/2014 16:58
