Just me?

It's almost as bad as being told to calm down! Grin

ghostyslovesheep · 22/12/2014 11:49

I do think you need to though if you want to throttle people Hmm

RoundRobinSparkles · 22/12/2014 11:49

You knew that that was coming, right?! Xmas Smile

Sallystyle · 22/12/2014 11:52

Adds more people to my throttle spread sheet!

catsofa · 22/12/2014 11:54

I often want to throttle both the OPs and the "get a grip" replies.

Fairenuff · 22/12/2014 11:55

Calm down OP

Xmas Grin
Sallystyle · 22/12/2014 11:58

ahhh

But it is very condescending isn't it?

My husband once told me to calm down; it was the last time he ever uttered those words again.

Gosh - you sound very entitled

Hands OP a grip

Grin
Sallystyle · 22/12/2014 11:59

Now I just need someone to call me grabby!

OP posts:
wowfudge · 22/12/2014 12:21

It's the completely dismissive 'meh' which gets my goat. It so often is used a very condescending way.

Whichusername · 22/12/2014 14:51

Get a grip and calm down dear

notagainffffffffs · 22/12/2014 15:00

Yabu. And entitled. [Grin]

KnittingChristmasJumpers · 22/12/2014 15:22

You can't have all the grips OP - stop being so grabby. Grin

Lottapianos · 22/12/2014 15:26

Oh there's some right comic geniuses on this thread, eh? Hmm

I feel your pain OP. It's insensitive and thoughtless and makes the writer sound like a muppet. It means 'I don't care about this/can't wrap my little brain around your problem, so just shush and go away now'. If people genuinely don't have anything better to offer, I think they should just say nothing.

Fanfeckintastic · 22/12/2014 15:30

Oh the worst are the ones who go into a big "hilarious" spiel about it...

OP I think you need to go to the grip shop and buy yourself a grip.

Here, have a grip!

Oh look what I found OP, a grip for you.

Ugh, not funny! Just rude and band wagony!

Fallingovercliffs · 22/12/2014 15:40

'Hands OP a grip' was probably funny ten years ago when some original bright spark thought of it. But it isn't anymore.

Fanfeckintastic · 22/12/2014 15:43

It's the equivalent of the 90s "NOT" humour.

Oh yeah OP, you're being completely reasonable... NOT!

Also, everything is bloody precious!

Sternin · 22/12/2014 15:51

No, and I want a throttle spreadsheet.

silveroldie2 · 22/12/2014 16:07

Do you prefer get a life?

Clawdy · 22/12/2014 16:15

I love "Love Actually" but I hate the bit where Liam Neeson gets choked talking about his dead wife, and Emma T.touches his arm and says softly "Get a grip...."

Sallystyle · 22/12/2014 16:32

Oh I hate get a life.

And don't get me started on the whole.. is that all you have to worry about? crap.

You know, like if someone has a petty gripe they must lead a blessed life and can't possibly have any real troubles.

ILovePud · 22/12/2014 17:29

I am loving the idea of a throttle spread sheet! It reminds me of when I was about 8 and had a chart up in my room, titled 'Pud's enemy chart' which was a bar chart of everyone in my class to which I would add to every time someone crossed me. I remember having to take it down very quickly one day when someone from school called in unexpectedly to see my hamster! The shame.

Sparklingbrook · 22/12/2014 17:30

'Are you on glue' anyone?
