To be laughing at the awful woman on "Don't Tell The Bride"?

She's having a tantrum about her wedding and I'm unfortunately laughing as she's been so horrible

That's the one Tracey I've seen it several times and it's still funny. It's on again next week

BOFster · 17/12/2014 01:58

There was a thread on here once from a would-be bridesmaid involved with the show. I think she was asked not to take part, I can't quite remember. I never did see it updated. Does that ring any bells with anyone?

Here's a reference to it, but I wish I remembered the actual thread.

Some of the grooms really take the piss don't they, I don't understand why the brides marry them.

The worst bride I can remember was a quite recent one. The groom had planned a festival wedding and she was having a major strop about the dress, the venue, the wellies The landowner, where they were marrying had to persuade her to go ahead with it. I think they were Scottish. She was such a horrible cow.

I just watched the Xmas one. Yes, she was a really spoilt brat but I think, when it came down to it, the poor woman was completely overwhelmed and was REALLY missing her Dad.

I did laugh at the idea of hair extensions being curly instead of flicky and therefore apparently chavvy VERY funny!

MincePieDiet · 17/12/2014 03:15

Can't sleep. Going to watch it now!

Tattiebogle · 17/12/2014 05:28

I just watched the wedding Nick planned for Rosie in Brighton Pavillion and it was fabulous. Just fabulous. And whilst Rosie did appear as an obnoxious brat I think it was very telling she just couldn't utter the words 'I love You' and every declaration of love from him was met with sarcasm etc. She's a very mixed up and hurt young woman.

LongDistanceLove · 17/12/2014 05:46

BOF that rings a bell, I think it might have been a thread about dttb and it linked to some exposé about it, and how they ham it up for the camera and cut the footage in a certain way to make the bride look unhinged and the groom some sort of clueless sap. There's a confidentiality clause and all sorts.

I'll see if I can find it.

anothergenericname · 17/12/2014 05:52

I love dttb and have even got DH hooked on it. Mostly I am astonished at the spolit brat behaviour of the brides and the selfish cluelessness of the grooms, but the Vegas wedding did seem particularly thoughtless of the groom who did it even though he knew she wanted all her family there. I was amazed she went through with it.

DeliciousIrony · 17/12/2014 09:36

The New York Christmas one was fab, I think it was the bride's sister who was (understandably) fuming at being told with about two days notice, that the all the bridal party not only had to go all the way to NY but pay £500 a head to cover the venue costs.
She had young children, and it was just before Christmas. I was amazed at the lack of thought on the groom's part. I was imagining a good AIBU thread about that....

He also put them up in a horrible apartment in a rough area (having not looked at it first), where there weren't enough beds for everyone.
And got her a dress which looked like lingerie.

Brilliant.

MincePieDiet · 17/12/2014 09:56

I did watch this in the early hours and agree she was spoilt but thought her family had created that. The opening part said she chose to live with the dad initially when the parents split up and only returned to the mum after his death. I wonder if her mother makes massive allowances to over compensate and that's made her behave that way. I thought her sister was v sensible.
Delicious irony I remember the NYC one it seemed ridiculous.
I loved the one in wales with the fisherman with blonde curls. Think I may have fancied him a little!

Iristutu · 17/12/2014 10:08

Amazing show, she was very, very spoilt and quite obnoxious. The flower thing and always complaining it wasn't enough was awful.

I did feel sorry for her with the dress though. It's such a difficult thing to get right and whilst his dress was ok, I think she looked much better in her own choice. If she had been a bit less stroppy though she could have changed it. what I would have done. the shoes were awful. Poor women in the bridal shop, I'm betting most brides don't cry and shout about how awful it all is. Dead cats included.

Felt very sorry for the hair stylist, but she did want flicks! Just give her bloody loose curly flicks.

qazxc · 17/12/2014 10:18

I agree that if you are such intransigent brattish about what you want, you really shouldn't do the show. However the lure of getting something for nothing must be too much to resist. Of course the producers select the most control freak brides and useless grooms, if it went swimmingly it wouldn't be as entertaining.
Having said that I remember some very easygoing brides (a very heavily pregnant one that got a Narnia/Alice in wonderland outside wedding and a bridal yurt) and most of them go through with frankly ridiculous wedding ideas (parachuting and the swimming pool one spring to mind).

Bogeyface · 17/12/2014 11:41

The vegas one iirc was that the groom spaffed all the money so him and his mates could have a great time in Vegas and didnt have any money to fly over (I think) the brides brother, it was a relative very special to her anyway. He knew this and didnt care. He knew she would hate vegas, but didnt care. He knew she wanted a UK traditional wedding, and didnt care.

They are now divorced, not much of a surprise.

Chippednailvarnish · 17/12/2014 11:48

I'm making notes on episodes I've missed, Thorpe Park bitch and Vegas...

funny summary

Mumsnet is even quoted at the bottom for our fabulous comments

DejaVuAllOverAgain · 17/12/2014 12:01

They have to go through with it or pay the money back and if they had the money in the first place they wouldn't be on the show.

I remember the Vegas one. He was a selfish bastard and I was really hoping that she wouldn't get on that plane.

LikeABadSethRogenMovie · 17/12/2014 12:15

"if you're being laughed at by Mumsnet forum members, you need to seriously rethink your life choices."

He could have done so much better than her!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 17/12/2014 13:09

There was a LARPing one too, does anybody remember? Where it turned out they couldn't actually get married outside, so did a 'ceremony', told her she wasn't actually married, foam sword fight and then ended up in a registry office Grin

I remember the fisherman one, he was lovely. He arranged a blessing at the fisher men's church straight after the wedding, because they couldn't actually get married there.

chasingtherainbow · 17/12/2014 14:08

noisy oyster

I have just laughed our loud in the middle of tescos.. people think I'm nuts. That link is ace

BringMeTea · 17/12/2014 14:09

Just watched this on the back of this thread. My! Nick is not a lucky man. I think my personal favourite quote on not liking her dress was: 'I hate him so much right now I want to punch his face in'. So, have I got it right, they basically have their wedding paid for and still she thinks it is appropriate to behave in this manner? Felt sorry for long-suffering mum and sister. On a side note, I thought the bridesmaids looked lovely. Funny how they managed to make 'dead cats' look elegant.

Chippednailvarnish · 17/12/2014 23:13

Sorry just catching up. That link is brilliant!

More choice quotes from Rosie -

“I'm gonna punch him so hard in the face”

“I hate him so much at the minute.”

“He obviously thinks I'm fat, he's got me a bigger size than I need.”
