to think that you don't need to go to every nativity performance?

The infants nativity play is on 3 times this week (once in the afternoon and 2 evenings).

It seems that a lot of the parents are going to all 3 performances Hmm AIBU to think that this is unnecessary and defeats the purpose of spreading out the attendees over the 3 performances.

Am I missing some unspoken parenting rule that says you need to go to every single performance that your child ever does??

Because of the way ours is done with tickets and restricted space - if we have two performances, then often for one of the performances many children don't have someone specifically watching for them. They know that this is very much likely to be the case and, as a school, we acknowledge this and manage the children's expectations. Never had an issue over this with any child so far at my time at the school - the children all seem pretty unfazed by it, especially if they know a grown up will be there watching them at the other performance.

As an infant school we have made a decision to not do evening performances its just too late for many little children and it has a knock on effect for the next day - and you can never guarantee you'll have the full cast show up.

There are 2 performances for each and we spread it out so that we go to one performance and my parents/ex FIL go to another. That way there is always someone to see them that they know.

Next year they are probably going to do 3 performances in which case we will split it up further. I just think its nice to have a friendly face in the audience when you are doing something like that. When I was a single parent my friend and I split it between us and we would both wave and do the photos with our own and each others child so again, there was a friendly face at both performances.
