Sigh.

They haven't got a Boy section or a Girl section any more. Sad

What happens if I erroneously buy a telescope or a science kit for mmy DD because of their unclear categorising? She might get ideas above her pinknfluffee station?

Shoukd I complain, it's NOT asseptable yanno.

I'm in my 40's, I agree that toys were in primary colours when I was a child and pinkification is new. It wasn't around until my second DD was born in 1997.

I think it's fine to have general sections as long as there is still Pink and Glittery toys about.

Just as damaging to the Female cause is making the majority Male choices as the default and "valid/better" one.

Let's work towards losing the Male anything as the "Ideal", that's been used for centuries to put women down.

Seeing Pink and Fluff etc as a lesser choice, or only a good one, if your child is male, automatically puts feminine women into third class position.

My three DDs have all had different personalities.

My eldest at 29, is in management and likes the Princessy/Barbie/TOWIE look on a night out.

She has the same thinking ability as her friends who make different choices. She is fully independent.

Already on this thread has there been put down comments about the choices some Girls/Women will make.

I think we should be respecting individual choices and leave the Stereotyping to the Misogynists.

Superdrug don't sell boys' Matey anymore - girls' only. No way 12 year old ds would want bright pink Matey with mermaid on it! I'll keep looking! (Matey's a Christmas tradition here Xmas Smile )

woodhill · 17/12/2014 14:07

:)

Forgotten about Matey. Does it still exist?

I was similarly confused by Lego.
Luckily they have now brought out girl Lego with brilliant Lego vacuums and ironing boards
Nerf was the same. I stood, perplexed, in front of their products last year but now they have Nerf rebelle for girls with attached mirrors and lipstick holders
Perhaps M&S will move with the times

TarkaTheOtter · 17/12/2014 14:26

youareallbonkers "Some girls do love pink and sparkly as do some boys."

Um yes, that's why shops shouldn't label all pink and sparkly things "for girls".

NanaNina · 17/12/2014 14:34

Are you for real OP?

HopeClearwater · 17/12/2014 14:35

Nerf guns (and also the bullets) for girls are in purple, pink and white. I was astounded. What's wrong with the blues and oranges of the originals? Did they not appeal to girls because of the colour? I bet any girl wanting a Nerf gun couldn't give a toss about the colour - she'll just want to shoot at things. All this colour marketing is to the adults, who fall for it.

More real than yiu can ever imagine, NanaNina.

HopeClearwater the purple and pink ones are for unicorn hunting.

IcicleTree · 17/12/2014 22:56

THEY DO!!! Don't be fooled by no boys or girls- they have 'gifts for little princess' and 'gifts for little superheroes' here

LittleBearPad · 17/12/2014 23:16
