My stipulation was that a man either had to have blue eyes, or be dark and handsome. They couldn't be shorter than me either. Or chubby.

I never dated much outside those categories. My husband ended up being tall dark and handsome. And a bit chubby. :)

There's nothing wrong with making a filter gate before you date a guy. But, obviously if you find the right guy you will find that you can make exceptions in the looks department too.

Aeroflotgirl · 16/12/2014 15:51

Yanbu it's your choice who you fancy, some people like the tall dark and handsome variety, some like ginger hair, long haul whatever. It's no different to,saying you only like men with long hair. I personally don't find shirt balding men attractive.

CakeAndWineAreAFoodGroup · 16/12/2014 15:52

I dislike blue eyes on anyone as they look insincere to me. I have no idea why; I am sure there are plenty of lovely people with blue eyes but that's just me.

OH has the most lovely chocolate brown eyes.

It's just occurred to me a reason: 3 blokes I've been out with had blue eyes and all 3 were lying cheating arrogant toads. That may explain it.

Hairtodaygonetomorrow · 16/12/2014 15:59

I am surprised you base it on eye colour, just because it's something I don't always notice early on unless it's very striking. I'm sure if I met a handsome man in a club in my younger days, I wouldn't have been terribly interested in his eye colour as a defining feature, especially as some people have grey blue which is not as striking as blue blue, or green/hazel which isn't immediately obvious. Not everyone is easily categorisable by blue/brown at first sight (say if at a distance initially)- I would look at the overall effect myself. Not racist though- and some people with mixed heritage have blue or green eyes unexpectedly- my children have two different eye colours, and neither the same as myself.

KingJoffreysHasABigWhiteBeard · 16/12/2014 16:03

I like men who are well hung.

The colour of it doesn't concern me.

JingleBellSniffer · 16/12/2014 16:06

I like tall, pale, blonde/redhead men with green/hazel/dark eyes, muscles, tattoos & really hairy.

I am 4'10''. I like REALLY tall men. DP is 6'1''. He's blonde. He has green eyes and he is built and hairy, no tattoos yet.

I can't see myself dating a short, dark, black haired, blue eyed skinny waxed guy.
You're allowed a type.
I'm not racist just ebcause I don't want to date a black man. I don't find every type of man i see attractive. The type of men I find attractive are teh ones who look like Thor.
My man looks like Thor. :D

Hurr1cane · 16/12/2014 16:12

I don't fancy women, but I'm not homophobic.

I don't really have a 'type' looks wise, but I like people who can make me laugh. I couldn't date someone with no sense of humour, does that make me.... Humour.....ist?

PizzaLegs23 · 16/12/2014 16:14

I've never in my life been with a man with brown eyes, blue are much more honest and beautiful - in my opinion. Brown are a real turn off, they look deceitful.

timetoplay · 16/12/2014 16:16

Racist? That makes no sense at all. Eye colour isn't a race specific trait.

I find it strange to rule so many out on such a small thing such as having brown or green eyes but everyone has their turn ons and offs.

timetoplay · 16/12/2014 16:17

KingJoffreysHasABigWhiteBeard I would agree with you, but I prefer peopel who are good at oral more and men who know what to do with it rather then just well hung. shudders remembering a well endowed ex who couldn't fuck for love nor money

Fallingovercliffs · 16/12/2014 16:18

You are not being racist but you are being ridiculous.

misskangaandroo2014 · 16/12/2014 16:19

I'd always dated tall ginger men and short ginger women. Until my divorce. My husband now is of average height with brown hair and eyes. I had a 'type' but I guess it didn't work out for me. Between my divorce and remarriage I also had a lot of fun with with lots of people and realised narrowing the field was flawed.

Fairylea · 16/12/2014 16:20

Lots of people have a type. So what? Thankfully we all have different types! It's not racist or whatever else. It doesn't mean you think less of them as a human, it just means you don't fancy them!

Personally my type is skinny indie / rock looking guys with dark hair a bit of a beard and skinny jeans and lots of tattoos. I wouldn't be with someone who didn't have any tattoos or who wasn't interested in them because it's a big part of my life.

Thankfully dh is exactly like that! Grin

OhFestiveDay · 16/12/2014 16:25

I have a 'type', all the celebrities I like have had similar colourings, though I've had relationships outside of that type.

I've never been in a relationship with a man who is significantly taller than me though, that would feel weird to me. I guess I'm height-ist.

DrewOB · 16/12/2014 16:25

I don't fancy stupid men, anything else goes, is that ok?

(saying that, I seem to have dated only gingers, the mind boggles)

RiverTam · 16/12/2014 16:26

Am I being racist towards Scandinavians if I say I only fancy brunettes not blonds? (though if Alexander Skarsgaard popped out of my stocking I wouldn't send him back.) Or fattist/muscleyist if I say I only fancy pretty lean men?

Emstheword · 16/12/2014 16:35

YANBU.....but mostly (unless super-striking) can you even tell eye colour until you're very close up?!! Odd.

But one exception being the beautiful Cillian Murphy from Peaky Blinders. He has the best blue eyes I've ever seen (only on TV UNFORTUNATELY). Yum!

WhirlyTwirlySnowflakes · 16/12/2014 17:03

Lots of men prefer blonde women - are they racist too?

Fluffyears · 16/12/2014 17:35

I don't fancy blind men at all so I must be racist too!

Fluffyears · 16/12/2014 17:36

Blond men-that is one helluva an autocorrect fail. Blind men wouldn't bother me and I'd be really happy if he had a dog!
