Or am I hormonal
I've lost 4 pints of blood during c section

Breast feeding - I'm week, still in a lot of pain- is a struggle but Shes feeding well.

Msw said she might have tongue tie. My nipples are sore so I panic. Then checks her mouth and says she doesnt. Then says she has jaundice and to put her by window. Says it's because 'she hasn't been fed as well as she might have been'.

Aibu to be upset or is this a fair point?

Yanbu. Ds was a brilliant feeder - he sucked on the blanket as soon as he came out (C-section) before I could even get a boob to him. But he still had jaundice for a week or two. They said it's more common with c section babies, and sunlight and breastmilk is the best thing for it. Congratulations!

Just wanted to come back and say thanks for the support on this - I was in a right state! DD is a month old now and jandice all gone and she is has been a great feeder (touch wood, just in case!) and we are still breast feeding.

Thanks for the update and glad it is going well

Yeh, glad it all worked out well! I am always really careful to say that breastfed babies are more likely to get jaundice, rather than blame the mum! I would be afraid of putting her off bf. Jaundice is generally harmless, and is closely monitored and treated if necessary as a precaution. As many as 60% of babies get it so really I see it as normal, but worth watching if that makes sense! Anyway, glad it all worked out for you :-)

Glad it is going better.

I was going to say (before I realised it was a while ago) that all mine were good feeders and all had jaundice in the first week. It is normal, but just something HCP should watch in case they become too sleepy to feed properly and make it worse, or it is a sign of something else. It is not a sign that you are doing anything wrong.

Keep looking after yourself :)
