To think that I can walk it?

My baby is due in May. Ds goes to school just over 1 mile away. I usually drive as I go straight to work afterwards.

I'm not looking forward to school runs with a newborn, especially getting in and out of the car. But I was thinking that it might be easier to walk to school with the pram rather than getting the baby in and out of the car.

Dp should be off for two weeks then after that it will be down to me.

I was lucky with ds I was up and well straight away afterwards.

I've said this to a few people and they've looked horrified that I'd consider it.

But hopefully the weather will be warm and dry, it might do me good.

I had an emergency c section with dd2 and was walking dd1 to school over smile away and back when DH went back to work two weeks later.

I didnt have a choice, I didn't drive at the time so I just never stopped to think I might not be able to. Necessity is the mother of invention (not that walking is an invention but you follow my thoughts!)

Who are all these babies who don't enjoy being in the pram? Ds went fast asleep being pushed along. Are you telling me I'm not going to get an exact replica? Wink

Please let me, he was an angel. I'm paying for it now though he's a cheeky little terror.

Walking / pram is easier. DD3 was born when DD1 was in reception and DD2 at pre-school, our walk to school is 15-20 mins which I mostly drive now and it was far easier to just put the baby in the pram, hang the bags on it and walk, plus everyone warms up within 5 mins and they don't moan about being cold in the playground.

I don't usually drive anyway but would definitely prefer to walk that distance with a new baby.

Walking will be absolutely fine - it's not that far and you can always dawdle back with a coffee and use the bus as back up.

Much easier than manhandling babies in and out of a car and it is a shame to drive such a short distance unless it's really tipping down
