To have maybe watched too much Breaking Bad...but worry about this important letter with nothing in

With the post today was a letter, addressed to my initials, with a huge first class stamp, and recorded delivery. Someone definitely wanted me to get this letter.

Inside it was an old, crumpled, folded up estate agent leaflet. Nothing written on it.

Has someone just attempted to kill me? I don't feel unwell. Was there ricin I didn't see?! Or have I watched too much Breaking Bad?

we need updates now

Christmas card with cash in, been opened and money nicked was my first thought but then why bother putting the envelope back in the post at all.

Then I thought, confused relative either on the pop or distracted by Antiques Road Trip, meant to put Christmas card in envelope, got but mistakenly put the estate agent thingy in instead sealed it and posted it.

If it was an attempt on your life via ricin then you have around 72 hours to track down the killer and bring them to justice. Good luck. Grin

Call the estate agent and ask them what they sent to you, see if they know what it's about?

Castlemilk · 03/12/2014 12:25

Sounds like a possibly dodgy PO employee then??

Definitely chase up with PO and with estate agent

SomethingFunny · 03/12/2014 12:33

What was on estate agent leaflet? Did it have a picture of another house for sale or was it general?

SomethingFunny · 03/12/2014 12:37

Oh- did a Google and found this, sounds very similar: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/legal_money_matters/a840800-Warning-re-recorded-delivery-attempt-to-obtain-your-signature

Plateofcrumbs · 03/12/2014 12:41

£1.72 is standard 1st class recorded letter price, so it doesn't mean there was necessarily anything else (heavier) in the envelope originally.

Very mysterious!

Chandon · 03/12/2014 12:44

that must be it!

will change my sig for this!!!

someone should tell Royal Mail

raltheraffe · 03/12/2014 13:01

Do you have any friends or relatives with dementia or other mh issues that could be making them confused

Bettercallsaul1 · 03/12/2014 15:54

This is creepy in the extreme, Jewels but I, for one, don't suspect ricin (unless you have a secret life you're not telling us about. Grin)

Can I correct you on on important thing? It is not possible to watch "too much Breaking Bad"!

Bettercallsaul1 · 03/12/2014 15:55

*one

BertieBotts · 03/12/2014 16:02

I would actually take it to your local police station and ask them, too.

MagpieCursedTea · 03/12/2014 17:02

We need an update OP, starting to get concerned that your theory was correct!

ChillySundays · 03/12/2014 17:09

Never use my normal signature for deliveries

Suzannewithaplan · 03/12/2014 17:13

I just put any old squiggle in the box...I'm sure most people do?

ChubbyKitty · 03/12/2014 18:04

I do Suzanne, I can't really write properly on that little doohickey!

OP this sounds a little scary tbh. I would definitely report it. Better to be safe than sorry!

I don't suppose you have the same initials as the person you bought the house from? Could be meant for them. Although still not nice for you.

Suzannewithaplan · 03/12/2014 18:47

I just cant really write properly any more :o

Ragglefrock · 03/12/2014 18:50

Could it have been a spare key/s from the estate agents for your new home? Rattling around the envelope could have caused the crumpling. .? Change your locks.
