Lighthearted

I keep seeing updates from friends showing pictures of their elves which their children think are watching their behavior on behalf on Father Christmas.

I am being a total grump or is the whole idea really creepy.

No comments stating the obvious that Father Christmas story is strange too Smile

We have a elf.. It doesn't watch and report back. Tbh it just causes fecking chaos. Gets stuck in the mince pie box, hides in peoples shoes ect. Ds loves him and he is a very cute felt one . He also has a book that gets filled on of what he likes and what he did on his visit to a human family.
i strongly suspect that the elf would find its way out the window if i were to tell ds that the elf is spying and will tell father Christmas if he is naughty

We have one but he's not like the 'elf police' idea we just have him suggest festive activities and get up to nonsense at night for the kids to find in the morning. It's a light hearted idea,to me it looks no more or less creepy than any other dolls in shops (there are plenty of the ones aimed at girlsi find way worse 'equestria girls' or 'monster high' anyone?)and I think people who get riled up about it are just looking for things to be annoyed about to be honest.
We also have a family gnome who has been coming and going through the year and gets up to similar tricks so the kids are used to this sort of thing from us.I will fully admit it is because I am more than a little bit childish.

It'll be Icelandic Yule Lads next. Those things are really creepy.

Where have they come from?
Everyone is talking about them as though they are something traditional.I only ever heard of them a few weeks ago.

I stuck one of these on my sons skirting board when he was asleep.

He was AMAZED that a little fairy is moved into his room to look after him! there's lots of notes going back and forth Grin.

IMO much better than an elf that wants to stab you in your sleep
